I haven't seen a thread on this, so it may be beneficial for the community to brainstorm and let's see what we have. I'd like every one to have some sort of citation to show how we know it's in the game. I'll edit the OP as things come up.

From official stuff we've gotten from Cryptic, what ship classes are confirmed?

This is not a wishlist. What do we know from Ship of the Line, video, screenshots, etc?

This is a work in progress. I'm working my way through the interviews and everything we've gotten. So please be patient. If there is something out that I don't already have up, let me know and give a link.

I'd like to thank HyorD. I used the "Everything We Know About STO" thread extensively to help with research.

I apologize if I don't know the specific class names, especially for non-Federation factions.

The "peace sign" class is technically called the windrunner class, non cannon and may change. As far as it being in the game, for the most part it was just to show case the game, and it might not even make the final cut. Id tend to think that the Tahoe class might make it before that one dose, but im not Cryptic. Just stick to ships of the line for confirmed class's, otherwise you might start a fire with cryptic or the fan base...

There actually has been a running thread on this:

"unofficial" Official Ship List (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=13131) by THORN74

For the Klingons, they also released a screenshot of a Bird of Prey during the NYCC but that shot isn't linked on the official STO gallery. Here's a link to the shot on the TenTon Hammer site (http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/63265?size=_original). It it still unknown if this screenshot depicts the smaller B'Rel class Bird of Prey or the larger K'Vort class Bird of Prey.

Nice, I was just sitting here this morning reading some of the posts and thought I needed to make a list (just like you did). Thanks, I know it was work (that's why I hadn't done it yet).

Cryptic should be maintaining this list for us. ::hint hint::

Defiant has been confirmed as has the Prommie but the Intrepid hasnt been yet (although would be pretty hard for it not to be in-game)

edit: woo! :D i didnt know they had confirmed the ability to get a Nebula haha made my day :D

and that last one titled "?" is either Orion or Gorn :) probably Gorn though

My feeling on confirmed ships if it is not a screenie on this site or in Ships of the Line it is not confirmed IMO. Reason being say for intance the BoP is from an interview why is it not in the Screenshot gallery. Seems it would be easy to post it there but yet it has not been and not commented on. Just feeling it could be omitted or changed.

I will not hold my breath on that one but really have hopes it will be inculded.

In a recent IRC chat one of the devs said Steamrunner would be tier 2 ship.

Found it in the "Late Night with Gozer" transcript. Added Steamrunner and Norway classes. Almost didn't do Norway b/c I think he meant Oslo-class (Oslo is the capital of Norway ie freudian slip). Not going to challenge that at this time.

EDIT: Just popped over to the main site and I see there will be a Devchat (http://www.startrekonline.com/node/308) devoted to ship configurations. Should be interesting and very relevant to this thread.

Updated for the Devchat (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=23065). More definitively verifies the Nebula, as well as gives us the lowdown that many "classes" are configurations within a larger class. Ex. Oslo and Steamrunner classes are a subset of the overall Akira-class, Excalibur is within Constitution.

We also found out there are 3 basic classifications: Escort (tactical heavy), Cruiser (bigger more general), and Science. Only one ship (Nebula) was put into a specific category in this instance, although the Defiant has been spoken of previously as being Escort.

Enjoy! :)

We have 16 Federation Configurations...

Miranda
Centaur (might be a Miranda class subset)
Olympic
Defiant
Saber (I might be able to imagine this being a Defiant subset... if I stretch)
Constitution (Excalibur-class)
Akira (Akira-class, Oslo-class, Steamrunner-class)
Intrepid
Soverign (NX-91001)
Norway
Galaxy (probably contains Nebula-class)

That's 11ish so far.

3 does not divide evenly into 16. My guess is that Cruiser will get the additional configuration.

In several instances, they have said that the Miranda and Centaur are both in the Light Cruiser configuration. Since they have a "Light" cruiser, perhaps there will be a "Heavy Cruiser". Also the Oslo ship in the "Ships of the Line" entry is listed as a "Heavy Escort" so perhaps there will also be "Light Escort" and "Heavy Escort" (which would both be under the heading of "Escort").

One inconsistency (?) is that the NX-91001 is listed as "Exploration vessel" in the Ships of the Line entry. Is that really a Cruiser configuration? Science?

Of course, this discussion is really only applicable to the Federation side -- since the Raptor is listed as a Destroyer, and I doubt the Federation would have Destroyer ships.

It's actually a Centaur with a different configuration.

Do you have a source on that? Looking at pictures and specs on the Centaur (including in one of my 7-year-old Star Trek Magazines) the lines just look different. I that one screenshot the way the secondary hull comes off the saucer actually looks more similar to an Intrepid-class. Until we have more info I'm just going to keep it where it is.

EDIT: This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89SWRpmNhQg&feature=related) came up in another thread. It shows a ship that looks remarkably like the one in the screenshot. I'm going to remove the "peace sign" from the OP. Evidence no longer supports it being a seperate class.

I never really made the connection that Miranda's and Centaur's are light cruisers. It would certainly make sense, giving everyone a more general ship to start out and then allowing people to either split into escort/science or keep on the cruiser (general) path.

Added new links for the recently released screenshots, showing a few Galors and a freighter(I'm assuming) in one, and a Centaur and, from what I can tell, 2 Miranda's. Possibly Saber's.

Well technically the original Miranda and Centaur were very different but these are new models.

The original Miranda was based off the Constitution (or the other way around, too lazy to look it up). The original Centaur was based off the Excelsior.

I am praying they add the "Tetryon" Class Cruiser. Its a modified Nebula Class ship, exept that its been modified for combat. The big triangle over the saucer section is even larger and has improved torpedo launchers, and some plasma cannons; very similiar to those on the Enterprise on the final episode of Next Generation.

Never heard of that one. For my own curiosity, what does that configuration entail beyond the basic nebula-class?

There are a few ships I'm hoping to see too (especially the Achilles in my avatar). I'm just trying to stick closely to what we get from the devs and stuff without too much speculation or wishlisting, which is why I cite every entry and every time it comes up.

errr there is no Bird of Prey reference in the Ask Cryptic. It was the content of the question.
I believe that the answer was referring to a Romulan Warbird.

"Pimped out Klingon Warbird" I have to believe that the "Klingon" in that answer was a mistake on the part of the dev meaning Romulan, it has to be. So it really is not a confirmation that should be added to the list unless it is for a Warbird. ;)

edit - since my last post we got it in the Gozer IRC thing that has a dev conformation for BoP. We need the class or if their having both B'rel and K'vort if we know that it will make a lot of difference. :D

although it probably doesnt count but im going to say it because it might proove usefull: in the new movie they do refer to klingon ships as "Klingon Warbirds" and not "Bird of Preys" or their names like B'rel, K'vort etc

what i am guessing here is that:

Tier 1 = Light - generally the first stuff you get in a game is weaker than the rest so it could be possible
Tier 2 =
Tier 3 =
Tier 4 = Heavy - and generally the last stuff you get access to in a MMO is the best and powerfull stuff so it does fit

not sure as to what the other two might be but that is what im thinking of right now

I like confirmed ships better than unconfirmed as you know their capabilities.

I'm hoping for a Constellation class and an Ambassador

While I think the ambassador will be certain, the constellation is a stretch

Ambassodor was shown in the trailer (at one point two were shown at a starbase)

Constellation class = replaced by it's replacement called the "Stargazer class"
(this was mentioned awhile ago in one of the timeline updates http://www.startrekonline.com/timeline/2381 )

incorrect. that article does state the Stargazer class was created and named after Picards old ship, but it mentions nothing of its design, and therefore cannot be called a constilation replacement with any certianty at all. we know a new ship exists named Stargazer (and it most likely has the reg# NCC-2893-A), but no one has any idea what it looks like.

Heres a vid of what the ship looks like on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiVQfRWeVvQ

Unfortunately that game doesn't do must justice to the ship.

I'm iffy about drawing stuff from the "Path to 2409s". It may mention something but it doesn't say much about it. However if its in a dev interview or chat or something, that almost guarantees (to me) that it is in the game.

In terms of the Constellation or a class based off of that design, there is this screenshot (http://uploads.startrekonline.com/sto_screen_042709_01.jpg). At first I thought it was a Miranda with no torpedo rack and the nacelles placed lower, but I'm not to sure anymore. There may be 4 nacelles. Just throwing that out there.

Something I've been pondering is that there are actually a relatively limited number of ship designs, even with the Federation. You know saucer section, secondary hull, two nacelles, etc. I have a theory that we will be able to get just about any ship seen in any of the series through customization of a basic design. An example of this would be the NX-class from ENT. Its essentially an akira with some small variations. It was also said at some point that we could choose different skins for ships, like the creamy white original Enterprise, or the dark grey of the Enterprise-E, or "future". Might be the ship customization devchat.

Interesting design. That may have to be one of the ones you'll have to design yourself though.

just re-watched the trailer and i think it would be safe to say that the Ambassador class would be within the Constitution configuration purely because of it's secondary hull which they both share :)

although it probably doesnt count but im going to say it because it might proove usefull: in the new movie they do refer to klingon ships as "Klingon Warbirds" and not "Bird of Preys" or their names like B'rel, K'vort etc

WoW I stand corrected. When reading this I never remember hearing that reference “Klingon Warbird” Just hate the idea of calling any Klingon ship as that when there is a specific Romulan ship called a Warbird but when thinking about that it has a specific class name. Just like Bird of Prey is not really a Klingon ship class B'rel and K'vort is. Looks like it also may be a Federation reference to opposition warships.

When I do a google I am like WT….! They also give that reference in Enterprise "Broken Bow"
"Tos was able to negotiate with the Klingons from sending a squadron of Warbirds to Earth and kept the peace." (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Tos)

But then again.
In a 2001 interview, Brannon Braga clearly stated that the use of the term "warbird" in relation to the Klingons, as used in ENT: "Broken Bow", was a writer's error. (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Klingon_warbird) you would expect that from writers they get credit and blame for everything

Canon has it's faults "human error" at least we can't blame the Klingons  Thanks for the update, adding it to my personal files, pro & con. ;)

The "unknown romulan ship" is more than likely a variant of the Valdore Class (http://www.rpgwarfare.org/valdore.jpg)

Where is it in the trailer?

I can't ever find it. Also assuming that they keep both constitution and ambassador the same sizes the ambassador is significantly larger yet significantly smaller then say a Galaxy.

Talking of ships in the trailer. Can anyone identify the ship in the background when the camera pans to the left during the Borg attack. Pause it just as the starbase is on the right hand side of the screen and in the background there appears to be a Federation ship with 2 primary hulls (or one that's split down the middle).

Edit: Its at the 57-58 second mark in the downloadable trailer.
