I've heard that there will be PvP between klingons, and between klingons and federation, but do you thing there will be PvP within the Federation in , say, a holodeck simulation?
What's y'all's take?

I think I remember reading somewhere from a Dev post that "war games" between the Federation faction will be common.

A couple of others and I have been saying for a little while that training type sessions would be a great use of a holodeck. That way the user could set up the scenario and battle it out with other people from their own faction without having to worry about the oddity of two federation captains trying to destroy each other. So yeah, I think it makes perfect sense :)

Personally, I'm hoping for a little more out of the holodeck than just a wargame simulation. Those were handled in the series by just dialing down the phasers to a non-lethal hit and actually having at each other.
I think that the holodeck might be a good place to use the creature creator and the genesis terrain builder to create some interesting holodeck simulations. Use of either of those systems could be augmented by allowing the player to fine tune a holo environment to whatever they want. This could be for combat training, giving us a "personal" space onboard our ships, running simulations of various configurations of our ships, et cetera... and the inevitable "Holodeck goes wrong" scenario, take your pick from the series.
The cool thing about the holodeck (and the hardest thing for the devs to do, in my opinion) is that it can be used for... anything.
It might be a place where we "learn" our skills, it could be a place to duel a friend with Bat'Leths at twenty paces, it could be a place to re-enact old missions, or even play through episodes of the various series... the only limit is the imagination, and what Cryptic can code. :)

I will be ejecting the holodeck from my ship the first chance I get, in hopes of avoiding content where my holodeck traps me and forces me to escape. :D

I wonder if it will be possible to perform the Picard maneuver during these war games? Also, I wonder if the war game battles between Federation ships will be restricted to 1 vs 1 or if we can have multiple ship battles?
Either way, can't wait for this game to come out!!!!

Since they are developing Genesis for directed story creation, I would think that could be adapted into the holodeck to allow people to construct their own missions, not for in game effects, but more for fun, practice, and roleplay! The best roleplay often takes place in small groups with a storyteller, giving the storyteller more tools than emotes would make for better RP, I would think. Anyway, would love to see it.
Except I also agree, thanks to the TV series I will be going down to my holodeck shortly after leaving dock, with a wrench, to make some key modifications.....

Absolutely Pavel. The potential here is greater than the CoH or SWG storyteller tools. Granted, I'm not much of a roleplayer, but if we get something like this, I just might give it a shot. :)
I wonder if Cryptic's gotten anything solid for the holodeck yet. Last I read, they were still thinking about it.

Nope. During combat, you can only use impulse. But if you were able to, it would still be hard to time it just right.

Ya, I understand that, but it would still be cool to try.
And while I also know that Cryptic had stated that combat was restircted to sublight speed it is possible for them to make it as a bridge crew trait possibly since the ship is not at warp speed for long.

Or perhaps that's something that can be a skill... you could learn the Picard Maneuver, you could execute it by command unless he has a skill that would restrict it's use, something like ECM?
If your Picard Maneuver skill (or even a skill that encompasses advanced tactics, or advanced escape tactics) is higher than his ECM skill (again, just for instance) then you have a percent chance to execute. Although, that might be a good time for the enemy to use the plasma snare tactic too. :)
Sorry to the OP, we seem to be morphing the conversation away from holodecks.
