Update/Uprgrade Costs

Are updates or upgrades from the release package going to cost extra money?

No information has been released about this sor of thing. I would hope that it wouldn't cost anything for updates if we are paying a monthly fee.

I doubt it. Expansions though will likely cost money but that's once every year or two if ever. I hope microtransactions are limited to stuff like name changes and things that don't affect gameplay.

I would say probably not.

Since there will be a monthly fee (assuming), technically that should be enough to pay for any expansions. But we'll have to wait and see.

I have to agree with this, and besides, 1 expansion a year is not to big a stretch on finances is it. :D

I agree with this, especially if Cryptic follows how they handled City of Heroes.

Yeah, I think I remember Craig saying that they'd rather concentrate on more frequent updates of free content, instead of saving it up for a pay expansion. I *think* it was an early video interview...

This is why I think expansions will be free, at least ones regarding game mechanics. I can't see STO lasting very long if they expect people to pay up upgrades for things like ship interiors, additional factions I can barely see but hope we won't but not things like interiors.

Personally i think you should be able to pay to force someone else to change thier ship name lol
