Haven't seen this particular idea/request posted on these forums for this game so thought i'd try and atleast put a new discussion out on the forums for us to mull the time over with.

One of my favorite scenes in DS9 is when Sisko or some other crew member (can't really remember, memory is getting fuzzy) walks onto the defiant over to Worf's quarters and warf is over there jamming out to some Klingon opera.

That got me thinking. Would it be possible to, while we're playing the game, have the computer say, play some custom selections of mp3's that we happen to have loaded on our pc's in game?

I know this is kind of extra fluff, but what makes a great game great is just exactly that little extra fluff for the players to really get into their gaming experience.

What do you all think and if a dev could chime in and say a word or two on what they think that'd be great.

Sincerely,

Your never humble Ballping

Not a big deal for me, I would never use it. But not a bad idea overall.

This reminds me of the radio that was implemented in, what was it, battlefield? Not sure. In any case, I'll probably replace background music, if any, with my own, via the game files. But an option like this would be nice. Just have a folder and let players put stuff in there, then let the computer play them.

I kind of prefer .ogg and .flac to .mp3, though. I always have trouble finding the audacity converter... >_<

I know BF: Viet Nam worked that way. I just tend to use my Zune. Yes, I bought a Zune. Yes, I happen to like it better than I did my iPod.

I get tired of ingame music, so I just turn it down (or off) and run iTunes in the background with playlists according to my mood. There's a Metal list, 80's Nostalgia, Movie Soundtracks, pumped up power tunes...

But yeah, that was great in Battlefield Viet Nam. I used to fly around with Surfin' Bird cranked all the time. :)

be easier just to play it of media player or itunes.

We two Melmacians in this forum have more in common than just a taste for feline-fare! I too have a Zune, and wouldn't trade it for the world!!! Zune is awesome! And you get more bang for the buck... I'm sure that statement could start a riot, but oh well... so could just about anything regarding the JJ-verse Star Trek.

As for custom tunes, I remember Project Gotham Racing for the original XBox had the option for playing your own music you had loaded on, at the time, a 6 GB internet drive... I thought that was awesome!... For racing.

Somehow though I'm not sure I'd be able to stay in the Trek state-of-mind if I've got my favorite Weezer album strumming in the background. Maybe Enya, but then I'd be too relaxed and might lean on the photon torpedo launch button.

be easier just to play it of media player or itunes.I usually get issues with alttabbing and sound issues... and I alt-tab a lot in MMO's.

P.S.: I pity you all who will never be able to experience Alf in Ukrainian.

In the end I just went and got a Creative Zen player, found it more reliable then either the ipod or the zune though I found I liked both. When they would actually convert my songs. The Zen does not do this!!!!!!

As for gaming I'm like the others, I mute the in game music and have Pandora running in the background, but I never had trouble Alt tabing.

in TF2 you can convert your music to play over the voice chat and that way others can listen to your terrible music too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would never use a 'jukebox' type thing in game... mainly because I'm too lazy to find music on the internet and I don't have any of my own music nor have any music cd's.

We Melmacians have very fine judgment. If it weren't for us, the Humans would have never achieved Warp capability in the first place. Where do you think Zeph got his taste in music and his name from anyways? Zephram, just a good 'ol Melmacian name!
