8472 + Cardies!

Did anyone else notice that one of the new screen shots featured a group of Cardassians fighting a member of species 8472? Do you think 8472 could be the much talked about threat?

I kind of doubt it myself, considering that they are not exactly ancient (or at least our awareness of them isn't). But what do you think?

I'm not all the way though the series, but Janeway had made the Federation's ideals and attitudes pretty clear I thought on Voyager. Cool that they're around and they'll be a potential adversary, but not as stoked if they were the mentioned threat.

I would highly doubt we'll even see such vivid screenshots of the 'ancient threat'.

8472 aren't that big of a threat. I mean yea to the borg but as I recall didn't voyger find a way to easily destroy there ships? I might be wrong though.

Janeway only managed to convince a few members of Species 8472, not the whole thing. She made gestures that may lead to peace but that is up to the higher ups and the groundskeeper made no promises that their leaders would even listen.

since my discussion was about technology to fight Species 8472.
and never saying Janeway negotiate with all of 8472. just in general 8472 where Voyager finds a station containing a disturbingly accurate re-creation of Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy, which is being used by Species 8472 to prepare for an infiltration of Earth.

why does everybody keeps saying that those are cadassians fighting a 8472 when it does not say so under the screenshot itself?

they are definatly missing some specific cardassian face-features, also the viewpoint hides some.

kk i corrected the link. oh yes created char for testing and klickydiklick made a screenshot. I'll only accept it as beta version of a Cardassian, because it dont look enuf like one.

look at the video I provided at 24 seconds in, they show the Cardassian. look on the side of his cheeks and then look at the pictures you provided of Dukat, and Garak, they don't have that bone structure on the sides of their face under their ears

Well that was my point. Since we have a char creator, the devs make some random char and play test. It doesnot say Cardassian nor Species 8472 under the screenshot on the frontpage. Obviosly some keep complaining that 8472 dont wear armor, well if it is intended to be one of the 8472 then they have time enuf to change it to the likings of the canon crew.

And Klingons magically grew forehead ridges, Gorn are suddenly bigger and meaner, Romulans don't look so much like Vulcans and have weird facial tattoos... The alien species don't have to always look exactly the same from series to movie to book to game. In other words, a Cardassian is a Cardassian if they say it is. :D

Nope, you're the one that I wanted to quote, I could clear it up a bit and say that she only convinced a small part of 8472 that they had no hostile intentions but that doesn't mean the other believed her, even with that gesture of good will.

And how do we know species 8472 doesn't wear armor? The only ones that the STO Universe have dealt with are those that are in the form of Humans or those who are pilots of a ship. We know nothing of their actual soldiers and if our technology got to a point where it was more dangerous to their health, then its feasible that, if they didn't already have armor then, they would have developed armor.
