Hi, this is my second post. I'm a big Trek fan and grew up watching the shows with my dad, but have only began following STO again in the last several weeks as I thought it was dead and banished to purgatory after not hearing about it for a while. My younger brother corrected me thankfully. I actually posted this earlier in the "What We Know..." thread but it looked like it was getting glossed over and I thought of a few more questions. I couldn't really find answers with the search option either. Sorry about breaking the rules a little, devs please delete the other post if you wish.

Anyway, here are my questions. Hopefully some of the devs and senior members can answer:

1) With "endless exploration" being programmed as a big part of the game, will players be making contact with new spacefaring races, or will it primarily be uninhabited planets with primitive or no life? If you do meet new spacefaring races, can they be affected by diplomacy, combat, trade etc, done by players?

2) I noticed that some PvP combat will lead to changes in territory for certain areas. Can players conquer or colonize new territory on their own or through PvE combat? IE: Can you colonize a new planet for your side? Can a Klingon player conquer a new race he just found for the Empire or his House/Fleet? Or a Federation player invite a friendly race to join the Federation or colonize a new world or station?

3) How will PvE combat primarily happen? Is it through simple things like pirate raids, etc, or will there be coordinated attacks (invasions/fleet actions) from non-playable factions like the Romulans, Tholians, or other/new races?

4) What level of diplomacy is being planned, and will the previous actions of your Faction and character have an effect on how you and your side are viewed and treated by NPCs and their factions?

5) I've noticed people have made fleets for non-playable (at least not yet) factions, like the Romulans and Cardassians. Are they actually going to able to pilot ships of and play for those factions at launch, or will they have to play for the UFP or Klingons until their desired faction is added to the game?

6) I know boarding has been talked about. Can you board other ships and/or stations and keep them permanently? Have derelict ships been thought up?

Kind of a lot I know, but like I said, I just barely became aware the game existed still and haven't been able to catch up on it much. I would've made a separate thread for this, but I know that is kind of looked down upon on other forums.

Thanks for the help!

1) to our knowledge, Yes. I don't see why there would not be other space farring civilizations out there, they all can't be gathered around Sol. We know that if you meet a new species one of them might join you personal, but i don't know about the whole species joining your faction.

2) We do not know yet. I hope so and i know others who hope so too, but i don't think anything "concret" has been stated.

3) There will be big "invasions" such as a borg one or this unknown enemy, but everything else as of now is unknown.

4) It has been said that species you meet will inherently like the fed or klingons becasue of diplomace or past relations. If i as a klingon find a new civ and destroy one of thier space ships, they would be more likely to make friends with the Federation.

5) No, unless they make the cardassians and romulans vassel states to the Fed or Klingon (which i doubt.) As it is they will be either Fed or Klingon with Fed or Klingon ships, but then can make a charactoer who looks like a Cardassian or Romulan.

6) Boarding ship for purpose of capturing is sofar only in missions (that we know of). We know we can visit space stations, but capturing them would also only be through missions (at least at launch). Derelect ships have not been broughtup to my knowledge.

That asside, Welcome to the forum, pull up a chair and grab some popcorn and enjoy the show :p
