I wonder how many actors from the tv shows and films are going to play this game, or are on this forum right now.

you know, i always thought about whos voices theyd get for the game...not if they play or if theyre in the forum.

high five for awesome thought!

i wouldnt be surprised if will wheaton plays. he seems to be a good guy (minus the fact that he played the single most annoying character ever) besides that...eh...who knows. im not an actor, do they have a lot of free time? or maybe a better question, is Cryptic giving them a lifetime account for being former characters? :O

Rumor* has it that Wil Wheaton will be playing at launch.

(*I may have just started that rumor to increase the Klingon player base)

Edit: Looks like someone beat me to that. Time to start one about LeVar Burton.

Patrick Stewart likes to read comic books. It doesn't seem impossible that he would give this game a shot for that reason alone. :D

Here we go, I found LeVar's fleet app: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=mjqzcm&s=5

Recruit him while you can!

mm...id love to see him in game (and like i said before, i'd assume cryptic would give it to him for free, its not like losing 1 sub would be a big deal)

however...will he be able to play the game? im 22 and *Im* afraid im not going to be quick enough to be as tactical as i need to be in order to pvp effectively. though i guess he doesn't HAVE to pvp :P

and ps: if wheaton DOES play, and I find out who he is, i will be creating a second character as klingon (if possible) just to get a chance to virtually nuke his face :D

How about Barclay? He's got quite the video game connections: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0776239/

see, i never found barclay annoying. they gave him disorders and junk so i felt bad for him. unlike wesley, who was a super genius jerkface and needed a good kick to the face.

as for Reg playing games. its possible. again, it depends on how good his gamer skillz are

Heh, he was annoying, but he wasn't that bad. I'd actually put him as number four on the annoying scale...

5. Borg (Only in Voyager) - Overused and no longer the scary ultimate bad guys.
4. Wesley Crusher - Terribly written attempt at appealing to a younger demographic.
3. Dr. Polaski - Roddenberry's biggest mistake.
2. Ferengi - Capitalism gone amok. Talk about extremes.
1. Pakleds - Come on, these guys are in space?? How'd they get off planet in the first place?

At least in my opinion. :D

heh, pakleds make you laugh, and are definately not annoying. same with the ferengi. the rest are ok. though wes takes the cake and is the king of annoying people

Just a note, Wes was an annoying character. Wil is actually quite hilarious when he's reviewing ST shows, and is perhaps more critical of Wesley Crusher than almost anyone else. Reading his blogs, I'm sure he would be great to play the game with.

Wil...I mean Pavel :p j/k Wil, wherever you are, don't sue me for ID theft :)

Well, they make you laugh... which is why I said that it was my opinion. :)

They make me cringe. I consider both the Ferengi and Pakleds to be among the worst plot device-based aliens written. -- No offense to you Ferengi fans out there. I have no problem with humor in a story. In fact, the best episodes contain a good mix of humor, drama and tension, but both the Ferengi and Pakleds were depicted to be such bumbling fools (the Pakleds more so of course) that I just couldn't believe, even for a short period of time (the length of an episode) that they would be capable of not only getting into space, but actually threatening a Starleet crew or vessel in any way. It didn't just drop me out of the story, it threw me out.

Good examples of these (again, in my opinion) would be Yesterday's Enterprise; among the best episodes of TNG, both the Naked Time and the Naked Now, Space Seed, and Voyager's pilot episode, the name escapes me right now. Anyway, the point is, humor is subjective, some people like slapstick, some like sight gags, others like "dumb" humor while still more like dry witty jokes, and of course, combinations of all of the above. :)

I was wondering if some of the cast could role play with some of the players in STO as a reward. For example if STO devs want to reward some players for something they may invite some of the cast to role play with them on some special instanced mission during which the cast people will interact with players in real time.

AHHHH... too much wishful thinking on my part I know. I just like to dream out loud sometimes.

Man that would be thrill to be playing with an actual actor. Though if they were going to play I don't know if they would be their original character. They'd probably want to remain anonymous or Paramount would need to clear it first.

I kinda doubt actors would show up in STO. They've got work commitments, con appearances, maybe being hounded after ppl discover who they really are, so... no. I'd consider us fortunate if some of the crew showed up, like Michael Okuda or Ron Moore. If Rick Berman or Brannon Braga show up, I'm going medieval on their a** because those two are idiots!

But the most likely scenario, would be us getting a chance to see or play with a virtual character like Picard or Q (assuming the fiction doesn't write out or kill off so-and-so).

If I was one of them I would give it a try just out of curiosity....
I really hope that most of them will participate to the game (voices at least). Lots of them did so already for other star trek games.
