I don't know if this is possible, but howabout this. A turtorial so we can get used to the controls going like this. Once we've designed our ship and crew:

We're sworn in as a Starfleet officer
We make our way on foot to the shuttle bay
We pilot our shuttle to our ship, then dock with our ship
We then fly our ship to a space dock for our first assignment

I'm sure they will have a tutorial. Probably something to do with Starfleet academy though. Every game has a tutorial to show you how everything works.

That's a brilliant idea, but like other people have said in this thread and in others, there is likely some sort of tutorial involving Starfleet Academy but perhaps with something like this at the end, I would be more than happy with that!

as long as we have the option to TURN IT OFF after doing it once it will be fine with me, unlike some games which think that you should do the same 20 odd steps over and over again until you want to jam your head in the microwave and pretend its a replicator.

Want me to set it to cook or crisp?

Another thing on this. Is Katherine Janeway an Admiral at this point. I'd love to have my first assignment given to me by Admiral Janeway with Kate Mulgrew's voice..

A step by step audio tutorial would be nice, with an nice Starfleet woman voice or a gurgling dark Klingon warrior voice.

Complete offline tutorials would be highly welcome.

How about a single-player mission that comes with the game?

Single player mission offline, or one that does not "count" in the STO universe?

I was thinking an offline mission, or set of missions that allow us to play something like the game offline first, maybe released before the actual online game goes er, online. It could even come with the Character Creator and Starship Creator. Hopefully it would be the full versions of them, but a beta version of them would be welcome.

The KDF tutorial should be you taking command after a torpedo hit frags the bridge, and you are the only ranking officer left, fresh off your warp core cleaning duties. You must replay the scenario until you successfully obliterate the Federation vessel by whatever means necessary.

Or maybe just a fly around mission. Either/or. :p

A general tutorial should involve:

- Career path on what your characters main ability is and the benefits.
- How to pilot a ship and how to do a simple away mission.
- Kobayshi Maru should be mandatory for all players ( think i better get my apple)
- How to upgrade ships and purchase equipment, ships etc
- IF STO implements it, how to earn credits or prestige points, and offcourse how you lose it.

Thats what I thought of so far.

Tutorial, ha! Learn to play the game the real way, like I do, six months down the road after you realize there are all these keys you could have been pushing to make your life a lot easier.

A first mission or tutorial should teach you how to use all of the major controls and options. I have played WOW online, and have gotten the idea of how thing work only from playing similar single player PC games.
