Open beta?

How long after closed beta do you think open beta will start, and how will you get into that, or will it be for everyone without the need to win a contest or get randomly selected.

Guess it really depends on how much or little trouble they have on closed beta, but I would say at least 2-4 months of closed beta befor open.

How long after closed beta. No idea. It would all depend on how much progress they make with closed beta. And typically your chances are good at getting into open betas. It's why they are open.

I believe that CO had a couple sessions of closed beta before it went to open. Depends on how many issues they have to address and how smothly everything goes. Also since you are a member of these forms you will be able to apply for the closed beta the contest winners are just the ones that have garenteed slots.

I don't think it's a question of how long from closed beta but how long from launch. IMO it always seems like developers open up beta like two weeks to a month or so before the game goes live.

True, but I would think (and it is very likely I am wrong) that they would take active forum members that meet system requirements before anyone else. As Arcticfrost has over 500 posts, I would think he is probably a pretty good candidate?

While they have said they'd be taking from forum goers first, I doubt (out of fairness) they'll take into account post count.

Beta has not been announced.

Closed beta will be with testers that Cryptic selects. Open beta will probably be with pre orders and such.

We have no clue when either will be.

I feel that everyone that has shown their support by preordering the game should be invited to the beta, closed and open.

I believe they mentioned that it's usually traditional to have the last month before release for the Open Beta (correct me if I'm wrong). They didn't say it would happen that way or anything. But if it does go down that way then it won't be for a long while.

You are right i am sorry for the misinformation. I signed up for a beta preview which I assumed was open beta. My bad ty for the clarification good catch.:o
