If not built in by the developers, i'm sure someone will crank out a reasonable facsimile using the race creator.

I'm more interested in the big eyed humanoids that were seen a couple times with Starfleet uniforms on. No word yet as to what species they were.

My guess according to the fact Star Trek XI is indeed a sequel we will see that little guy again.

The little guy in the new movie was a bit much for me. It felt like a typical mascot creature that usually gets employed in manga cartoons. Felt like that was pushing for tween ST.
What's next, everyone closedeyed smiling at the camera and making the peace sign, or special suits that come with powers they activate through their watch (with appropriate animated bootup)?

I just found out the race of that little guy.
He's called an Umpa-umpa. They come from Umpa-Umpa land (Planet?)
Check out the data on these little guys......

His race has not gotten a name yet.
The little guy's name was Keenser (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Keenser). (You were close, SirReginaldo.)
Personally, he didn't take anything away from the movie for me... but he really didn't add anything either. Just a cute prop for Scotty to play with, I guess.
On a side note, the guy who played him did in fact play an Oompa-Loompa. Actually... he played all of them (at least in the remake).
From the Memory-Alpha (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Deep_Roy) actor's biography:
Deep Roy (born 1957) is an actor and stuntman who played the role of Keenser in 2009's Star Trek. He is noted for playing Max Rebo Band member Droopy McCool and an Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and for his frequent collaborations with director Tim Burton, particularly his portrayal of all 165 Oompa-Loompas in 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Yikes.

How many Alien Species have we seen in Star Trek? 50?
(to Quote Capt Picard) "There are more than 150 Members in the UFP..."

Keenser was never identified, though many have said Keenser bares a resemblence to the Kolarin's seen in Star Trek Nemesis, it's already been stated that the resemblence was purely coincidental.
There are actually several aliens that make an appearance in Star Trek that are unidentified, sucha s the bulbous headed alien that is either a navigation or tactical officer on the Kelvin, the big eyed doctor from the Kelvin, the big headed tactical officer on the Kelvin, and several other bizarre ones. Probably marks the first Star Trek, sicne Star Trek IV that we actually see aliens that actually look alien and not just a few ridges on their nose or have a butt drawn on their face.

I'm curious about this too. Didnt care for Keenser, struck me as a cross between a mascot and Jar Jar Binks

Yep, Deep Roy. Check out the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory DVD sometime, it's got some great "making of" stuff from the movie, and how they made him into an army of Oompa-loompas. Pretty much everyone one of them that you get a decent look at in the movie, he filmed individually. Hell of a lot of work. Had no idea he was an ewok in RotJ though. Rock on.:D

The character's race reminds me of the Deep Ones in H.P Lovecraft stories. In fact that entire planet reminded me of the Kaddath.

He was played by the original scotty's son.
