View Full Version : Do You Think They Are Reading?

I know the moderators are reading our posts, but does anyone know if the developers are actually reading our posts on the various topics posted here? Do you think the developer in charge of PvP reads the PvP threads? The planet spawning developer the planet spawning threads? The quest developers the quest threads, and so on and so forth?

I hope they do. I hope they're required to, or that perhaps the moderators forward topics related to each developer's area of responsibility. I've seen some great ideas offered by posters on these boards, and it would be a shame if there's a break in the feedback loop. Not that they'd have to follow any ideas offered here, but you never know when a developer might be looking for an idea and it's sitting right here on the boards.

Why wouldn't they? There have been many great ideas expressed on these forums on gameplay, character and ship development, etc. Developers do listen to future players as to game content.

I think the mods give important information through to the DEVs. They wouldn't have a forum like this if they weren't planning on listening to us.

The good news for the devs is that virtually any concept that has been brought up was already discussed ad nauseum back in 2008 (as far as this site is concerned)...so chances are they have already seen almost every possible discussion. I know I have not seen anything new/original or refreshing in quite some time. In fact, the smartest devs probably predicted all possible discussions before this site even launched.

I know that if the devs aren't reading our posts then the moderators will point them to threads that makes sense, or relay the info in them

I tend to agree. Maybe I'm just suffering from feedback starvation. ;)

Or I wonder if all major decisions have already been written in stone and all our discussions here are at the point of being, well, pointless. They are just 6 to 9 months away from launch after all, so it seems reasonable that they've finished their major design decisions and it's too late to undertake any substantive changes. I'm cool with that, and in fact I hope that's the case. It would be a bit late in the development process to not have their vision fairly well finalized.

Yeah, I'm still fairly new to these forums as you can see from my join date. Your post is reassuring, thanks.

I suspect the OCRs like Rekhan and Daeke read everything. They will filter it , write reports on it and they get distributed to the relevant parties. Devs included. If the Dev has an interest they would then come look. I hope the devs don't spend half the day looking through here on the off chance of finding useful info.

Actually not everyone frequented here in the tail end of 2008 so its a bit presumptuous to suggest no new ideas since then.

I just saw a comment from a DEV, so they do read the forums. In their spare time, I hope.

They probably browse it every so often when they're taking a break and not religiously watching Star Trek :p
