my friend just showed me this game and i was wondering if you can have your friends be part of your crew, or have a group of friends play on the same ship as one another doing different jobs, would you be able to do this?

I haven't come across this when reading the boards. You will be able to fly as a fleet. But that will involve you captaining different vessels.

I hope this will be a feature at some point, but it won't be there when the game launches

At launch ever player has their own ship.
You will be able to join up with fellow players for away missions, however.

Is this the same person with different accounts or teams of frineds complaining? lol

Anyway, it will be a lot of fun, playing as a captain of a ship. you can team up when you are in space, and when on the ground you can have several friends on the ground together forming the entire away team, with no npcs.

In space, you control separate ships, fight alongside one another, each of you have the basic control of your own ships representing you controlling your bridge officers, somehow.

I personally dont think I'd enjoy controlling just one part of the ship for very long, I want to command a ship, small or big, friends can have there own to team up with for missions. I doint want to start as an Ensign on board a ship and be forced to play through years of gameplay time to become a captain.

Although this has already been addressed, and player run crews have been dissmissed already by Cryptic for a variety of reasons, has anything been said yet about that feature being available for FLEET/GUILD vessels? Maybe a little farther down the road?... Just out of curiosity...

I also really don't want to have to do what other people tell me to do, that makes it more like a simulation and not a game like STO should be. Granted at times it would be fun to be on a ship with your friends, but how would you go around controlling them? they could go off and do whatever they wanted and not follow your orders, I somehow doubt this feature will ever be in the game, and to be honest am happy with that!
