Christmas, Easter, Halloween
In most MMOs I've played there has been somekind of event for this. What special items/quests would you like for these kinds of holidays?
I would want a special santa suit for my captian, he has a red shirt anyway.

I dunno, holidays never seemed a big part of Trek. Actually, I think we hear more about celebrations on other planets than on earth.

The main reason for lack of holidays in Trek was the core idea of equality.
Most holidays are tied to one religion or another or one country or another and Trek spans all religions, races and countries.
That being said, I always look forward to the holiday things in games (Lord of the Rings has a spring/summer/fall/winter festival as well as yule and halloween events and EQ2 always had great holiday events)

I was going to write about the equality thing in my first post but I had to leave really quickly so I didn't have time.

There arent any seasons in space either.

But I think it'd be alright for them to have some holiday style events celebrated annually. April Fools, halloween.

Maybe we should celebrate the birthdays of some of the crew's birthdays, lol, or famous Star Trek events.

Actually at one point the second number in the stardate refered to the current season.

I can imagine they'd do something, regardless. Some evil prankster messing with physics and threatening the universe for April Fools :o A giant pumpkin attacking homeworlds on Halloween.. hmm lol.

Christmas event, Santa gets assimilated and in order to finish the quest, you have to disable the reindeer and slay in order to beam him abord and try to de-borg him and save Christmas.

Halloween, half your crew dresses up like Klingon, and the other half starts shooting at them.

April fools, a borg fleet appears at earth and starfleet sends a destress signal, once everyone is there and about to fire on the ships, they disappear and it turns out to be a holoship temporarily captained by lore playing a joke on everyone.

new years, all enemies of the federation show up along the borders of their space, and just when everyone thinks a major battle is about to happen, they hail and show they are bringing the alcohal from their respective worlds and tap the kags for everyone.

Technically.. There are seasons in space, particularly when you get to different parts of it. Just they aren't the terrestrial seasons that we know and hate/love.

It could be Q, the prankster not the giant pumpkin.

I really like annual events (just please don't make them associated with religious holidays). These events could be space races (like the delta flyer race in voyager), combat tournaments, or maybe 'sexiest ship' competition :p

The Pagans did it first and they did it right. It isn't a party unless there be sex and booze involved.

I played WoW for a while. I hate the new achievement system they put in when it comes to holiday seasons. They make them so ridiculously time consuming and retarded it isn't even worth doing. There aren't any type of rewards (worth getting) for the most part.

Plus the post about Starfleet is spot on. I wouldn't like to walk around space stations with Christmas trees everywhere; it just ain't right.

They are meant to be a diversion and a break from grinding and farming, not a way to get new phat lewtz.
The rewards are usually fun (masks for halloween that you can wear year round, deco or clothing items for other holidays.
If you do not want to do them, that is very much your choice but I can guarantee that there are plenty who look forward to the events every year and it is really part of a full mmo experience.
