will it be vulcan or new vulcan because the new movie destroyed vulcan. So what will be done and how will it be handled?

The game will have the old Vulcan. That Star Trek (2009) Movie Is In a different timeline. You didn't catch that?Star Trek Online will be based on the series & takes place after Nemesis.

I'm assuming it will be regular Vulcan. The movie took place in an alternate timeline, whilst STO takes place in the regular timeline after the events of Nemesis. So, in the game we should have a Vulcan, safe and sound (but no Romulus cause its destruction takes place in the real time line).

Romulus now that has me confused? In Star Trek Online ain't we at Stardate 2384? If so Romulus Is still there. The Supernova hits Romulus In Stardate 2387.
That's not a major gap though. If Romulus Is there. Will It be removed later?
Thoughts?

The game doesn't launch until 2409. Romulus is worm food.

I wonder If the creators were thinking that when they were making planets.I'm betting not at first.Wonder If Romulus was made & they removed It.
Star Trek Countdown might of helped.Even so Romulus wasn't mentioned to blow till this year & the game Is further along that just one year.
(2009) Film & Comic wonder If that slowed them down some?

I hope not. I hope whatever they had planned they keep right along doing it. I don't really care if just because a movie or comic says one thing, They don't exactly have to do it..OR do they :p

Did people even watch the movie on how they say they are an alternate timeline?

I think a lot of people were too dazzled by the fancy graphics. The story took a bit of a back seat I think.
LOL I am starting to agree to that as well Thunder.

The current Path to 2409 has us at 2387 already and Horbus going supernova and the destruction of Romulus has been mentioned.

I'm still wondering what happened with Qo'nos. it had 50 years to live in The Undiscovered Country but in TNG there's still a planet with that name.
so is it the same planet or a new one with the same name?
maybe i missed something

Solution is easy. Old spock and the rest of the Vulcans move to the new colony mentioned in the new movie. They call the planet Vulcan 2 and then simply drop the 2 when Star Trek 12 arrives. Bingo you have new Vulcan without changing the timeline.
The scary thing is......as far a holloywood is concerned this could be true :p

I think that they will be sticking with the original canon timeline.

the number of Vulcans, power of the Vulcans in federation and location would still be different.also, the ships look different.

Yeah this theory would kill the original series. I'd rather stick with the alternative time line. That way if you don't like it, other than losing Spock, it's not relative to the core time line. Thus no need for the arguments of opinion.

What if ...
It were possible to play a section of the game (size to be determined) ...that would end up following an "alternate" time line within the game that would parallel the incodents of the new movie. This "could be" carried out in one two or perhaps as many as three instances.
Could that be possible ?

i heard some things about the mirror mirror universe being involved with some instences, but not sure how they would do the movie time line unless its like with the episode where warf kept changing places with himself.

The probablility is that they would have to do it as a patch. IMHO this sort of thing if done properly would take a lot of time. IF THEY are getting close to beta .. there might not be enough time to include it in the initial release.
BUT ... IMHO something from the new movie will need to be considered at some point in time. An alternate time line sequence or chain of events (chain of instances) .. might simply be a good way to do this.
