Thank you, thank you, I know that rhyme was magnificent. I've noticed a lot of the threads today seem to be getting a little hostile and serious, so i've decided to start a thread on a lighter topic: :)
From Twitter:
CrypticZinc First playable: Fighting IN the Bajoran wormhole when it's not yet done can make you really motion sick. 60% of the attendees skipped lunch!
Cryptic_Kestrel Bajoran wormhole ... so spinny ... where is the Advil?
Haha, sounds like some good times. I just hope the Prophets don't get too angry! Maybe we'll encounter 'The Sisko'?
I really like the talk of going to crazy places and doing crazy things in them. It keeps the game fun and lively. What do you guys think?
It's also a good sign that they are talking about fighting in the wormhole that goes to the gamma quadrant. It was my understanding that the Gamma quadrant wouldn't be in at release, if they are getting this close, perhaps that means they have a lot of other content already...

wow...that is awesome. I didn't even think they were going to get the wormhole in a functional state at launch. Possibilities.... Wonder what the gamma quadrant will entail with content.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah, like you I'm just thrilled that some portion of the Gamma Quadrant is included, even if it's a message beacon saying something like "Dominion Space: Do Not Enter."
Prophets are a must if we're going through the wormhole, and maybe it'll tie into the 98 changelings in the Alpha Quadrant, visions of the Sisko, etc. It also makes it more likely to see a real Dominion expansion in the future.

I hope you can tractor push someone into the side of the wormhole and it do damage. ;)
How will they give Klingons Access to this wormhole? DS9 after the Dominion War was probably one of the most protected spots in the Federation.

Whose to say they were in Federation ships? Klingons could have already taken it over! :p
But seriously, I kind of doubt Klingons would really have access. It'll be interesting to see how they give Klingons and Feds similar amounts of content. Zinc has constantly said that the Klingon and Fed content would be different though. This may be one of those differences.
Part of the reason I'll roll a fed alt just to tool around and see all the cool iconic places. It should be a good time. :)

It's quite cool to think that we can actually fly within the wormhole and battle within it rather than it just being like a gate where you see your ship go in and then come out the other side without seeing the middle bit.
It's like a burger with just the buns :p

there will most likly be wormholes that have poped up or we just haven't heard about in the movies or series ;)
that is to say, Cryptic will probably create new wormholes

I hope they don't create too many Wormholes. The DS9 one was the first stable one they found in hundreds of years of space exploration.

Lol, yes it is, isn't it?
It sounds like this game won't feel quite as instanced as some people think.

I agree. I don't need a wormhole, why give me the exact same thing as the Fed? Might as well make it different. Get creative Cryptic! :D

Maybe they could make Deep space 9 a pvp zone that can be fought over and controlled by either faction

Yes, Bajoran Wormholes are just so... mmmmmmm.

Maybe its possible they've made DS9 like K-7, a neutral station that both sides can dock at. Unlikely I guess but not without precedent.

Actually, I kind of like this idea! :D
I've been hoping that we have a neutral/non combat location where both factions could go. The factions would need a reason to go there though.
The wormhole, quarks (gambling and such), repairs, and maybe even a trade center would easily be in DS9. Cryptic would have to be creative with how they they make the location a neutral non combat zone... But yeah, good stuff :)

I wouldn't say that's imposible, after all.. Cryptic made a zone in CoX where heroes and villans could gather and "party" together, ever do missions together, though that was a fantasy game for wich they created the rules ;)
but there are more ways to travel long distence without wormholes
maybe the klingons stole some tech from the borg ;)
those transwarp hubs can be used by any ships
I think that would be just as likly to happen as the klingons going to war against the federation ;)

Actually, Klingons have been known to party with those they do battle with. We saw that several times in TNG during the Klingon civil war.
The Federation is all about acceptance, so I don't think it's much of a stretch if SF would allow its captains to join Klingons in a non-combat neutral location.

the prospect of fighting in wormholes sounds insanely cool..I wonder, in the gameworld, how the laws of space/time will be followed? maybe a warp core breach in such a situation tears a hole in space/time, giving those involved a time travel mission of some kind...

I don't remember that, but it does make sence.. good point :)

that would be cool, but I don't think it would work without the option to skip it and then the point wold be ruined

Yeah, haha, I've had time to think about it because I really want a non-combat neutral location.:p
I don't know which episode it is, but I remember distinctly Worf, in a bar, complaining to his ship mates how there is work to be done on the ship and to stop partying with the enemy. His shipmates inform him that partying with the enemy is a customary practice after a days battle.
When you think about it, this makes sense. The Klingons would view those who have some good battles with them to be honorable...

hmm..well, maybe if you btreach in a wormhole, you get dropped into an unknown region of space(or time)..have a mechanic, a set of skills that makes the captain use his map skills, interacting with his science officer and the rest of the bridge crew, thatallows him to calculate a jump back to normal space..make it somewhat difficult, but not too much..sort of like how some peeps get stuck in wormholes in eve, but make it possible for a distress signal to be sent..pvp rescue missions..

Or we have a face to face chat with the Prophets.

A neutral DS9 could be interesting, technically the station is under Bajoran control isn't it?
Fighting inside the wormhole I can imagine why that could be motion sickening lol.
I hope they don't go too overboard with the use of wormholes though, I'm sure theres plenty of other ways they could find to make travel easier.

absolutely, but what I'm after is more player interaction..having a mechanic where a player really get stuck, really need to send a mayday, and need other players to come get them, or send the proper calculations/coordinates to warp out, is just massive neverending player content, and adds some realism as well.

Transwarp conduits are annouced to be in the game, guess the federation reverse engineered some Borg Technology from one of the Cubes they destroyed.
I dont think they need to go with a Neutral DS9, it can easily be an area battled over though, everyone wants control of the Wormhole to the other side of the galaxy, especially after the Dominion is largely defeated, and they can travel on the other side to a greater extent.

could be posible, but the borg will be in the game, so they could also just be there for the borg to use in events or missions :)
