As some of you may know there are rumours about a single server for this game. Well take a look at this

Yes it's the wave of the future, and i would love a single server. Just don't Instance sections of the galaxy. The galaxy should never be full enough that you have to spawn a second instance.

It's all fine and good to say that, but what about popular places like, presumably, Earth or DS9? If you potentially have several thousand players in one area, you're going to have to either make new instances, or you're going to spend a crapload of cash on servers that can handle that.

Yes, the large scale STO engine beta codenamed Champions Online should provide us with much more data :)

They can still instance, they just wont create a second instance in the low populated areas.

Just read the article and it sounds like he's describing SWG :eek:
In all fairness to SWG, there were some good things that I'd like to see used to some degree. In fact, there are a number of things I'd like to see from various games:
SWG
- Flexible player housing decoration (perhaps scaled down)
- Player Cities (outposts?)
- Crafting experimentation (better skills, better product?)
CoH
- Player Content (great use for Holodecks here)
- "Offline" character creation/saving (could be adapted to be a separate application for STO?)
PotCO
- Ongoing card games that players can join (Dabo tables anyone?)
Just my two cents with regard to making a single server experience more pleasant :)

I’m almost positive I remember reading or seeing something written or said by one of the Devs saying that all players will be in a single “world”, obviously you can’t have one sever however you can have several of them working together to form one sever/world.
