how many of you would like to see headset integration????? I know I would as a 30 something gamer I know I love my headset on XBL when it comes to playing with my friends, I don't want it to be a mandatory thing but I at least want the option.

Do you just mean in game voice service? Craig Zinc (the exec producer) confirmed that there would be voice service in game. We don't know which client they will use, or all the features, but you can expect to be able to use a headset to communicate with people :)

^^ Yeah. You'll be able to use your headset. How else would you be able to communicate in an MMO on Xbox Live? I guess you could use those dumb little keyboards they have.

Now would an 'STO In-Game Voip' link up with console and other Voip systems, or does each system operate only on their own system -- so players on different systems will not be able to talk with each other?

If they have any plans at all to move STO to one or more consoles, they MUST include headset chatting in the game.

yeah i guess i wasnt really thinking about the consoles, cause im not to sure how an mmo is going to do on xbox and even if they say the servers will be integrated.....im a little wary
although on xbox i may have the whole universe to myself

Headsets will be great to have in this game. You can really hail people, which wouldn't feel right if you had to chat on a keyboard.

I agree with you on that it just wont be right to chat on a keyboard in this game

Lord Of the rings online the in game voice works well for the most part however for whatever reason some people come through really faint at times . Dispite the ability to adjust within the game it never quite is enough to make these people sound better. So far in other games that have such voice intergrated the same problem still occurs. If Cryptic goes this route I really hope they get something that has a good adjustment value that works solid. So that the faintest voice can be normalized.
I dont think at this point and time you can yet beat the clairity of ventrilo or team speak. For a guild to use. Most cases in game voice is limited to only the team your on at the time. For Lotro I have the ability to use either in game or Ventrilo and have found the combonation workable as long as you have different que buttons set for each one. Boggles my mind how many people fail to wrap their heads around that these buttons can not be the same ones.....

Ingame voice In most games Is always bugged or doesn't work for some people.I personally like Vent. That never seems to fail.

The problem with vent as I understand it, is that everyone would have to be on Vent inorder for you to all communicate.
I would rather see a system were most people are linked together, than have a bunch of private voice channels and people cut off from each other.

Vent does this or people can seperate to different channels as they group together. Having an in game that links everyone together doent make sense at all having thousands talk at once does not work... Remember vent is for guilds to have communication amongst themselves. Until ingame voice can match what team speak or ventrilo does for clarity. The ingame voice will always be troublesome. Not sure why they have such difficulty in games but they do. Its frustrating when grouped and there is a few people that you cant hear speaking when in a battle or having a group leader you can barely hear no matter how much you tinker with the settings.

This is my experience as well. I generally run vent on one of my other machines and use it to communicate. Voice requires a lot of bandwith, after all.
