So what's the verdict will Romulus and Vulcan be in the game now that they are gone?

Vulcan yes, Romulus no.
The game is taking place in the standard timeline/universe not the movie one.

Yes, they always will be, and were in the game. This game is using the original TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY time line in which vulcan is still whole, Romulus/Remus are gone, but the Romulans and Remans are still very much alive.
For more on the events leading up to the start of the game in the year 2409, you can read these:

No doubt there will still be players that will Role play as if Vulcan was destroyed by Nero, and as such will have a certain hatred towards the Romulans. I personally would enjoy some large expansive battles between the two (in this case, we would assume that although 6 billion Vulcans died, we have a Vulcan factory somewhere and can build enough to supply the war effort) races.

Of course Vulcan is still around and Romulus space dust, STO is based on the original Roddenberry Timeline, not the alternate universe we saw in ST11.

Right.
See, Romulus was destroyed in the Roddenberry Timeline. But Vulcan was destoryed in the alternate Abrams time line. So Vulcan will still be there for us. But not Romulus. Confusing isnt it?
But Romulans will still be in the game. Romulus was not the only world the Romulans had settled on. It was an empire after all, not just one world.
And if you look up at the STO banner at the top of this page, you will see Romulan warbirds on the right side of the banner. One is getting blown up. Im sure they had it coming. :D

Yep.
Too bad Nero was a moron. He could've went to Romulas in the past and told the Senate of the future and perhaps destroyed the Hobus star ahead of time with the Red Matter. :p
After all, he waited 25 years for Spock to arrive, so why not?

SPOILER ALERT:
This was one of the problems I had with the movie. He goes around wreaking all sorts of havoc but doesnt bother to go to Romulus in the past and warn them of their impending fate. So he practically accomplished nothing for his people. Yes. He was a moron.
I did notice that one of Neros ears was half gone. Perhaps its an unknown fact that Romulans and Vulcans pointy ears aid their higher reasoning functions. If they loose an ear, they turn into ridiculous goofballs with the reasoning of a rusty doorknob. Possible. :p

Ok so Romulus is gone for sure.... But how can we justify playing a game in a an alterate time-line... another words:
* Vulcan is gone in ST11 time-line (which apparently is now the "real" startrek timeline)
* Game takes place in the "original" universe where Vulcan still exists....
SO as players were not even playing in the "real" startrek universe.. that's kinda stupid right?

We aren't going to be playing in the alternate universe, we are playing in the long established universe.
Think about it, how much extra work would the Devs have to do if they decided to go with the movie universe? They'd have to rewrite all of star trek history in order to have a game set in 2409.

Really, I hear rumor that his ear was lost when he was at Rura Pente, which was one of the cut scenes. But then you have to ask, how in the universe did he end up there after traveling back in time? Especially with that flying fortress of his?

Well, which timeline is the real timeline? Personally, I dont fully understand it either. I mean, if Vulcan was blown up in the past wouldnt that mean its gone in the future? If the past is changed isnt it the past? But supposedly, this is an ALTERNATE timeline / universe.
Apparently it doesnt go with the "Back to the Future" rules. If something happens in the past it changes the future (makes sense to me).
Anyways, both time lines are "real". We will just be happening to play in one, and the movie takes place in another. Hey, dont get mad at me. I didnt make up this goofy stuff. Im just telling it like it is. Is it all kind of stupid? I dunno.....maybe..... :p

problem is taht the "alternative" universe is now the "real" one. So the "original" one that we play in is now an "alternative" universe. I would rather play in whatever is considered real, which at this point says Vulcan is gone.

It isn't the "real one". Abrams mentioned in an article that the movie is essentially taking place in an alternate timeline. Think another Mirror Universe. Which would explain why a lot of things are different even before Nero shows up.
The already established timeline is a live and well. With the exception of being now short a couple of planets and a Vulcan.

Right. See, technically you could consider Rodenberrys universe the "real" universe, and the movies universe a spin off alternate universe.
At least I like to think so. It keeps me from going insane. :D

This is how I see it, when technology is involved the character travel back through their own timeline. But when there is a spatial anomaly, or some kind of hole in the universe (artificial black hole, spatial rift :Tholians in Ent:Mirror Darkly) they travel between Universes.
As a gag the Devs should throw in the Sliders gang.

Roddenberry-Timeline: Original TOS through STO
Alternate-Timeline: Star Trek 11 (A-TOS)
And actually it does go with the "Back to the Future" rules, if Old Spock traveled back in time to Nero's attack on the Kelvin. Saving the Kelvin would be the only way to restore the Original Roddenberry timeline that we all know and love.
So in short, for us in STO, all we know is Spock and Nero got sucked up in a Black Hole and are gone. Life goes on.

I'd actually say that both are very real. They are different, but both real. Nothing prevents future stories in either time line. The new movies are in the new timeline, but STO is in the original timeline.
IMO there is no issue :p

we live in the Prime Universe. Thats the one with TOS, TNG, VOY, DS9 and ENT. In addition, they also contain all the movies up to Nemesis.
The new movie has created an alternate universe (known to most as the Abrams Universe). This universe has a dead Vulcan, a Captain Kirk of the Enterprise fresh out of the Academy, and most of the other series pretty in trouble (especially VOY, because without tuvok, there would be trouble)

There actually three alternate universes that i am aware of with the original crew Kirk, Ahura, McCoy, Spock etc etc. The original in which this game is in. The empire one and now this new one. Its all star trek and i like it.

Well alot of you don't like pointy ear cloak and dagger action it would seem. Personally I've loved the Romulans throughout the Star Trek universe. Kind of dismayed that they blew up the seat of the Empire but hey a civil war was coming any way. Also why do the writer's insist on killing Spock the man is the coolest character in the seiries and they killed him again, well alluded to the fact that he may be dead.
Also I liked Abrams approach on this film, I didn't even see this coming and was wondering how he was going to pull this one out.

*SPOILER*
I guess it is a spoiler if you haven't seen the movie yet.
But, technically, if they go with the movie as canon now... can't the destruction of Romulus be prevented with the "alternate" timeline? Or at least an evacuation done far ahead of time?
Guess this is why I thought the movie was just "ok" myself. And why I had hoped the new movie wouldn't reflect too heavily on in game canon. Although aspects of it are already in the timeline updates.

Yes and no. The destruction of Romulus can be prevented in the new timeline, but not in the regular(Prime) one.
Though technically it could if some Prime timeline Romulans decide to go back in time and stop it.
