We've seen photon torpedos, and quantum torpedos.....so I believe by 2409 the Federation will have adapted the technology Voyager brought back from the delta quadrent. Although the borg have adapted to the ablative hull armor, rendering it useless, I believe Transphasic Torpedos remain an option:

A transphasic torpedo delivers a subspace compression pulse existing in an asymetric superpostion of phase states. If one subcomponent is blocked by shielding, enough others will still succeed in penetrating to the target to ensure a majority of the pulse is delivered. Each torpedo's transphasic configuration is different, randomly generated by a dissonant feedback effect, so that there is no way for the Borg to predict the configuration of its phase states in order to protect against them. - Seven of Nine

Naturally, I'm not saying this torpedo should be able to penetrate all sheilds, however i believe it will be useful for using a new Torpedo name in game, perhaps one that gets a little damage through shields of enemy ships so that even smaller ships have a chance at larger ships shielding.

Also this type of torpedo would do wonders at leveling off the Borg, that way it no longer has to be 1 Cube against 40 Starfleet vessels.

What do y'all think of this idea? :p

Sounds awesome! You wouldnt of thought the federation would let that technology fade away if it was effective.

Every Torpedo gets a little bit of damage through the shields, you just have to watch carefully.
Of course if shields are advancing torpedos get less effective thats why you'll need new ones.

I certainly hope that there is new weapons in the game, though they will probably in limited quantities and we will still be relying heavily on the good old fashion torpedo... it might just be a newer version of the orginal torpedo with modifications and increased yield.

We don't know enough about the game yet, however I would assume that if the Federation is using transphasic torpedoes widely then we will probably see the klingons and others have a similiar weapon for really just making sure that the game is balanced. Let's face it transphasic torpedoes could pwn the hell out of anything, if they can wipe out a borg ship with ease, i doubt a warbird would stand much of a chance.

I'm all for it, I fell in love with those torpedoes the moment I saw them in End Game. I'd love to use them against The Borg.

However, There should be some kind of limit though. Can't have to much of them, Seeing as they took out a Borg Cube without much effort, The thought of running into a Federation ship equiped with these torpedoes while PVP-ing as a member of the Klingon faction... Well, It kinda sounds like cheating. These torpedoes would rip through Klingon ships and still be able to hit a few other ships in the process (Look up the Ancient Drones from the Stargate TV series)

Unless, The Klingons did some spying on the Feds and have adapted the torpedo tech into their arsenal.

Seriously though, Considering Voyager will have returned home for 25 somewhat years before STO starts, I'm sure Starfleet has come up with some interesting new tech to defend themselves from weapons like these.

I think that the shields will be advanced so the transphasic torpedoes wouldn't go right through the new shielding technology. They'll probably be in the game at some point.
