My answer is pretty simple but I want to be in my captain's chair and say.... Engage before I go to warp for the first time ><!

everyone starts with a small cruiser anyway and you will need to spend abit of time before you can afford to upgrade and customise so im not thinking of that straight away

I've already stated in the past that I intend to play a Klingon and shed myself of the Mr. Niceguy approach. I'll do something similar to what you have planned... Only when I arrive at your isolated spot ahead of you, I shall cloak and await your arrival. And just when you are ready to settle in to your "home", I'll decloak with my disruptors targeting your bridge. And the last words out of your mouth will be a curse against your father for ever even looking at your mother. And the last question on your mind will be if you can hold your breath in space...

A small price to pay... In any free roam game, the first thing i do is look for new kinds of death. So far in GTA4 i've discovered, trains brake for no one, stopping a plane with your face is a bad idea, and body armour is useless against helicopter rotor-blades.
