Other Playable Races?

Its been stated several that at launch that only the Federation and Klingon will be playable at the launch. This is probably for ease of design and story issues but its leaving out the very diversity that makes Star Trek Star Trek. Some may argue with the federation you can play a multitude of races so you get your diversity there. I disagree at some later content expansion I hope the devs come through and add the Romulians as a playable race. Then we would have the 3 classic groups available but I am hoping for more. AS we saw in Next Gen and DS9 there are other interesting powers out there and I would like to see more of them.

Although nothing has been stated by Cryptic i think we are all expecting the Romulans to be the next Race to be included in STO , most likely in the next expansion, so i wouldn't worry they will be here soon :)

theres a alien creator. make whatever alien you want. there will be whatever aliens you want on both sides. patience is the only limiter, because we all know how impatient some people are

I seriuosly hope the Star Empire becomes a playable faction at some point.

If they do, I think it would make it more interesting if you could defect your character to them, rather then have to start from scratch. As much as I want to play for a Romulan faction, I would be reluctant to abandon a character I had spent months/years working on.

With a one time option to defect, you could possibly start off at a higher point along their progression line rather then having to start a new character in the start/tutorial area.

This could come with a host of plus/minus points. You'd be hated amongst the faction you abandoned, and the new faction would barely trust you, so you would have to put in a lot of work to earn their trust.

As I stated in a different thread, I wnat to play as a Kryptonian with a crystalline starship similar to the one Superman came to earth in in the Movie.That to me is the pinnalce of defensive yet the most highly advanced starship technology with the crystalline computers that allow for weapon creation, crystal replication to continue production, the most advanced engines, adn with some improvements in design it could be highly maneuverable as well.
