Personal Ship Class Ideas

Hey there, guys!!!

I don't know if there's a thread set up for this yet, so I thought I'd start one--in this thread, we can all post personal ideas for Starship Classes we want to see in STO. Since I'm mainly going to be playing Federation Characters, I'll limit my personal posts on this thread to Federation Ships. However, that doesn't mean you have to do the same--Klingon Players are just as welcome to post their ideas for Klingon Ship Classes as Starfleet Players are to post their ideas for Federation Ship Classes. This is mainly a thread for us to post Ideas for Cryptic to hopefully pick up on.

The Guidelines for this thread are:
1. Your Idea must have the name of the Class; its Type; what Class(es) from the Shows it's either based off of, is replacing, or is borrowing concepts from; and the Date the Class was Commissioned.
2. Include whatever Technical Specs for your Idea that you can think of--and try to be as detailed as possible!!
3. Try to include either a picture of what it should look like or a paragraph describing its physical appearance.

You can also include any background you want to--Hopefully, if said background is detailed enough, Cryptic just might use it!!

And those are the Guidelines for my thread. I'll post my own ideas here, as well (trying to adhere to the same guidelines that I want all of you to adhere to), but this first post was just to get this discussion out into the open--do a fresh thread, so Cryptic can pick up on it easier.

I look forward to seeing what we all come up with, and what Cryptic uses from that!!!:)

There is already a lengthy subject on this over at 10-Forward, which is actually a more appropriate place to post this sort of thing anyway.

Also you might consider using a lighter blue color, as the darker colors are harder to read, and can be irritating to the eyes.

You might want to try using the search feature, it works pretty well, even though you might have to search a little to find what you're looking for.

OK, and for the first post, we have the successor to the Defiant Class!!

I'm calling it the Defiance Class, since it's essentially the Defiant Class Mark II. It's classification is a Heavy Escort, and it'll probably be a Mid- to Late-Game Ship.

In terms of Physical Appearance, the Defiance class is slightly larger than the Defiant Class, and has a similar shpae. The main physical difference between the Defiance Class and the Defiant Class is that the Defiance Class is more streamlined, less bulky, and decidedly more lethal-looking.

And now for the specs:

Overall Length: 150.0 meters
Overall Draft: 100.0 meters
Overall Beam: 30.0 meters

Normal Cruising Speed: Warp 7
Maximum Speed: Warp 9.8 (Sustainable for 24 hours)

About all I can come up with in terms of background is that the Defiance Class was built in response to increasing hostilities with the Klingon Empire, because this thing is made for battle.

So that's my first Federation Ship Class Idea--I did a redo of the Defiant Class because the Defiant was my absolute favorite Ship from the shows--and an additional reason why I liked Deep Space 9.

Cryptic, if you don't use the Defiance-Class Idea Directly, at least use all you can from it to create a worthy successor to one of the best ships in all of Star Trek!!!:D

hmmmmm...... That's a fairly good design there.:)

Actually, my idea for this thread was so that we could post our own original ideas--you know, the stuff we come up with in our spare time. My Idea for the Defiance-Class is one example of the kind of thinking that I had in mind.
