It's not dilithium crystals that keep Star Trek Online running. It's our programming lead, Stephen D'Angelo. Underneath this mild mannered programmer lies a Jean Luc Picard! Without further ado we bring you the next Meet the Team - Engage!

Read about it! (http://www.startrekonline.com/meet_the_team/sdangelo)

Hi, Stephen -- thanks for sharing that info with us!

Some day I hope you'll be able to tell us about the software development tools and processes that you, as lead, expect and help the programming team to use, as well as how you lead the overall development process.

The only good bug is one that never makes it into Production. :)

I personaly dislike the Borg & Cpt. Picard had never gotten above his wale, but I can live with his new position.

Anyway hell of a interview which includes a fine solution of the Kobayashi Maru.

Good to meet you, Stephen!

While you bring obvious technical skills to the game, I'm impressed that you also bring a pretty keen understanding of what makes Star Trek work on a human level.

And this statement of yours? "They showed me how great games have more to them than button mashing"

I can think of a few dozen game designers working today who could do well to have this tattooed on some part of their body so they don't forget it in their future work! ;)

We're in good hands, I think.

And ... despite your claims to Vulcan ancestry, I confess I now picture you as the STO dev team's version of Scotty. To wit:

Captain Zinc: "Stephen ... we ... needmorepower ... if ... we're ... goingtomake ... the next ... milestone!"

Chief Engineer Stephen: "Captain, we're codin' as fast as we can! We cannae hold this speed forever, or she's gonna blow!"

Cheers,

KOS

It's very nice to get to know a little bit more about you, Stephen! I cannot wait to play the game and experience all of the hard work that you (and all of the other members of the development staff, for that matter) have put into it. Thank you for posting this!

that gave me the most brilliant idea.
I'm going to create a custom race which shall bare striking resemblance to a (more literally than not) "evolved" Pikachu.

Wasps, that's just perverse, man ...

Well, either perverse or an oxymoron ("evolved Pikachu"?). We'll let Dr. Victor Frankenstein decide.

Cheers,

You do realize now 47Wasps, that this will inspire all though's who want beings from just about any other source to be brought in to existence. The bounds of what would be expected, have now, had the flood gates thrown open.:D
