Freedom of Movement in Space Sectors

OK, galaxy wide we have a 2D map to navigate. CHECK.

Once we select a sector, or solar system, we come out of warp and see our ship in space. CHECK.

QUESTION: how much freedom of movement do we get in sectors. Can we fly our ship from planet to planet to moon to moon and to the sun?

Unlike SWG where you were tied to the orbit of one planet, can we fly around a whole system? Will we meet other players in space, unlike SWG where you never met other players in space?

The map is 2d but the movable space is 3d. Planets can be higher or lower and there's a huge amount of room to navigate to but you'll automatically warp out of the system if you approach an edge (which is faaaaar away). Since most of the action and content is faaar away from the edge you won't realize it unless you go out of your way, at which point you'll just warp to the next sector.
