I was just curious if you guys at Cryptic were planning to do a stand alone pre-release demo of the race creater software? I know you guys have a lot on your plate, but it would be good for advertisement and would placate the salivating masses a bit. Plus I just want to play with it. :D

I believe a few people have posted about this idea. I agree though, it would be great for everyone to get a feel of what characters to create and how characters would look, for those who already have one in mind.

Yes, the MPD girls are correct, this has been posted before, and it is a great idea. Unfortunately the question becomes: How much effort would need to be put into make it a standalone item, and how far into production will they be tweaking it?
If takes a considerable amount of time to prepare it for special release, I would rather they focus on the game itself.
If they are going to be pouring things into the creater right up untill gold, and making changes to it, releasing a character creater demo could be misleading.
And finally: While I really want this, I have to admit that the focus of the game isn't really on the creater, and the benefit from releasing the creater early would be minimal, as I don't think it would serve to draw a crowd as much as a focused marketing campaign.
Still, I want!

I happen to think those "MPD girls" are pretty cute. ^_^
But that aside, you have some very good points. I wouldn't want them to put a whole lot of effort into this, no matter how much I want it, if its going to be a detriment to the development of the actual game.

While I would love to see it and use it to make an avatar of my captain before release, I don't want them to waste too much time on it.

I would vote for it. Being able to build your bridge crew one month before release would be great. But please don't pull the same crap as SPORE and let people pay for something they'll get in the full game anyway.

Cryptic released a Character Creator for CoH back in the day. But I believe it was for the Korean market and it was never officially released anywhere else. I'd like to see one, but I'm not expecting there to be one.
Nice idear but i doubt it will happen, still...i am happy with the video they released about said character creator or the customisation options! :)

Boy I would love this, Id be more than willing to pay a small one off fee for it too!
It'd be great to get started on my crew early otherwise I dont think I'll make it out ofSpacedock on release day :D

Yeah, something like the Spore Creature Creator would be cool. That's what got me officially hooked into buying that game before it came out. ;)
