When you think about it, the almost-romance is nearly an accidental staple of Star Trek.
Deanna Troi and Worf
Data and Natasha Yar
The Doctor and Seven
Janeway and Michael Sullivan
Harry Kim and Just About Everybody
T'pol and Tucker (though perhaps they got a little bit further)
I really only watched TNG and VOY, but I'm sure there are more...
I'd love to have real crew interactions, but I fear our crewmates will be little more than an animated collection of statistics. :(

Considering that interiors wont be in the game at launch, I dont see how we are going to be able to have personal relationships with our bridge crew. The only time we will see them may be on away missions and such.
Maybe after launch at some point. Who knows?

You could always role play romances (or almost-romances) between your bridge crew. The way I see it, is we're not playing as the captain, but the crew. We control the lives of the crew, and we can control their backstories, and if you want to pretend that your tactical officer and your chief medical officer are doing some serious flirting, there will be nothing to stop you. However, I wouldn't expect any special benefits to arise out of these relationships.

Romances done right can add depth and story to your crew, done badly and it can just be painful and cringe inducing.
