I hope no one takes offense, but I hope they do not allow the use of canon characters. I really do not want to see a bunch of Picards flying around in Enterprises, and I hope the filter is good enough to block almost all attempts to bypass it. From a fantasy standpoint, I would want to be Jonathan Archer :) Imagine seeing the birth of the Federation!

Don't know about my race.

Of the pre-made races, I'd think Nausicaan if I play for the KDF and Bajoran if I play for Starfleet.

Of canonical races that are not pre-made I might recreate a Cardassian, Denobulan, Jem'Hadar, or Venturi (background alien in DS9; named in Starfleet Academy) provided the appropriate pieces are available for all of these.

But in the end I'd have to see the create a species feature. I could forget about all of the above and make something completely original once the game is in front of me.

With pre-made races I'll probably just hit the random name generator (assuming there is one) until I see something I like. With created races the name will depend on the race.

As for ship name. Well, I will surely fly more than my starting ship and provided I stick with STO long enough to reach the end game I'll have more than one ship with various names.

Basically, none of this will be decided until the game is in front of me.
