Hi! You may know that veteran Trek illustrator John Eaves (designer of the Enterprise-E, the Valdore and the Son'a ships, among others) was working with Perpetual some years ago. He had opened a new blog (http://johneaves.wordpress.com/) some time ago and had started uploading images of his ships from STO, previouly being used by Perpetual.

It (or a ship that looked very much like it) was spotted in the trailer at about 1:12.

Some cool stuff there, though the first couple don't look very "trek-like".

It wasn't officialy confirmed, however, a ship that looks like the Tahoe apeared on the trailer.

Honestly, why very well done, they just don't fit the Star Trek style whatsoever. I love 'em but would hate to see them in a Star Trek thing.

It is the same ship. Also they obvious rescued the Excalubur from Perpetual and shown that as the example ship with the hull customizations.
BTW, his early concept for the NX-01 almost looks like the ship design I'm working on for a Connie 2 design. Pretty snazzy. :D

I gotta say, nothing in that pic (trailer23.jpg) looks like a Tahoe to me. I can see a number of those "Peace sign" ships in a couple of configurations, but no Tahoe. The ship a bit below what looks like part of the saucer of a Nebula, is a "Peace sign". Nothing else strikes me as being a Tahoe.
P.S. I ramped up to brightness / contrast in Photoshop and still can't see anything.
EDIT: Actually, I just checked against the only pic of a Tahoe I have and yea, that one just appearing Bottom / left of centre could very well be a Tahoe. The impulse engines in the middle of the saucer kind give it away :p Don't know why I was looking elsewhere lolz.

Extremely nice designs. Thanks for posting them.
They looked very much Star Trek to me, while at the same time, moving the designs even further than what had been done before. A few of the ships looked a little....blocky though. Federation ships tend to be more streamlined. But with art work that good, who can complain?

I agree, this was a great find! Even if all of the designs do not make it into the game, it is still a great opportunity to see them because I genuinely enjoy each and every one of them. Hopefully more John Eaves-inspired designs will be introduced into the game in the future!

Actually, he posted the desings because he thought the game was dead, and after someone comented something like "I hope that design is still on the game" he became aware of the game "revival" and of Cryptic takeover. So aparently Cryptic was using his desings without his knowledge.:(

I would love to hear that John Eaves was involved in STO once again -- I think that he and Andrew Probert were among Perpetual's greatest assets before they became defunct. If any of the devs are reading this, I hope they'll consider dropping Mr. Eaves and Mr. Probert a line.

They are neat designs, but I agree with posters who have commented they are not really Federation designs. It just doesn't have quite the right look. They seem more suited to Star Wars or B5, or dirtied up even more and put into Firefly (btw, I love all those series and think the ship designs in them are excellent. I would think the Enterprise from TNG would be terribly out of place in B5 as well).
Good designs, maybe an allied race would use them, but I don't think they are Starfleet in appearance....(can't believe it, I'm a Trek snob.....oh the humanity!)

Some of the designs are cool. But the ship sizes are reallllly dinky.
I mean come on. To some of us, size DOES matter. The bigger the better. I don't want to frump around the galaxy with only 100 or so peeps. I want something bigger, grander, more capable.
Crank out some BIG ONES Cryptic!
Yes yes, some people like cozy little space dens with only a few people onboard. But please... the more the merrier for me!

I actually think the Orion fighters (http://johneaves.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/the-orion-fighters-of-enterprise/) could be something out of BSG. Fairly aggressive!
USS Ramjet (http://johneaves.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/starship-of-the-day-2/") is also very cool. Not your typical saucer shape...

i was under the impression that when perpetual finally folded and cryptic swooped in to save the day they litterally bought EVERYTHING the whole kit and caboodle. so there is a chance you will see some of those designs in the cryptics version of the game.
I like his style more than his ships, my view of a startrek vessel is clean lines.
Ships such as the galaxy class , intrepid and akira have nice curvy lines some of his seemed a bit boxy.
Although i still like them as design ideas.
Although i cant see the point in a dohnut type ship in terms of reasoning behind it.

That is an interesting find seeing as Cryptic announced they made everything themselves and used nothing from what Perpetual handed over from their version of STO.
Just reinforces my belief that the 3rd title they are working on will be their version of Perpetuals dead game Gods and Heroes. Their Bridge Officers are an exact copy of what Minions were suppose to be in that game.
I would like to see some of those non-standard ships in game as well. That explorer looks like it should be a huge ship with all kinds of cargo to set up and build outposts to expand Federation space.

Actually they said they acquired and would use the concept art. The "used nothing" comment is related to actual in-game assets.
