If there's one thing that bothers me most about Star Trek: Onlne, its the uniforms.

Now I'm not saying I don't like them, I think they're pretty awesome. But after reading over all the 'Path to 2409' posts plus watching episodes of TNG, DS9 and VOY that all had to do with the early 25th century, I woner why ST:O is not using the 'canon' uniforms that have been displayed in the shows.

ST:O is probably not considered canon, and most would argue that the futureistic episodes wouldn't count as canon also (since they do happend to always end up as alternate time lines).

AH! There's the key word right there, "ALTERNATE". Meaning its the same canon time line, just different events happend that lead to that future situation.

I digress, the basic point is that in every future episode, the Starfleet uniform is the same. Pic-

Reading over the 'Path to 2409', it seems that all the events that are happening is exactly what has already happend in the shows, most notibly "All good things..." the last episode of TNG.

So why not just use the already stated 25th Century uniforms?

Those were designed in 1994. The uniforms have that 90's trek feel. Cryptic is just trying to keep the game looking more "modern" or "trendy". Personally I didnt like those uniforms, thought they were a step back instead of forward.

The uniforms cryptic designed seem more like a logical step forward from the later TNG/DS9 uniforms and past the Blue/Grey jumpsuits of the movies.

I'm confused, you do realize that TNG is 24th century right?

Why do people keep showing those horrid uniform designs?

Agreed. I'm guessing both Cryptic and Perpetual threw them out because they were horrendous.

I like the coat, but that is the only thing I liked and they didn't look futuristic at all when they were on screen, they looked more like a severe regression from an acid trip.

The last episode of TNG, "All good things..." Picard skipped ahead 25 years, placing him around the year 2410.

So many people hate the uniforms! =(

Although, I do admit...they look somewhat "old people like", those pants are hiked up way to high...

Picard skipped ahead 25 years from 2370, that is 2395, not 2410.

Picard skipped ahead 25 years from 2370, that is 2395, not 2410.

The dialog went something like this-

Geordi visited Picard in his vineyards, and Picard asked him how long it was since they were all on the bridge of the Enterprise.

Geordi said about 25 years.

Lets assume he meant the Enterprise - E, obviously, and the movie Nemesis took place in 2379, now...25 years from that is....

*does math*

2404...

*uses coloful metaphors*

Ok, well i was off on that one by a bit =P
but still takes place in the early 25th century.

No, they meant 2370, since the movies had yet to be established.

I don't know about taking that assumption, considering the Enterprise-D is still in service in All Good Things.

I'm inclined to agree with Silverspar in terms of the chronology.

Time travel episodes get us into so much trouble. My original statement about TNG being in the 24th century was mostly in reply to

"TNG, DS9 and VOY that all had to do with the early 25th century"

It sounded like you believed everything other than TOS was in the 25th century, I was simply helping you get into the correct century.

Personally I'd rather they go old school and get some TOS Movie Era style uniforms. :D

I said it before and i'll say it again, those future uniforms are ugly. I'd absolutely hate to spend the majority of my playtime looking at them, heck, i even prefer the perpetual uniforms over them.

Besides if the countdown comics end up being considered canon, you can consider those disasters retconned.

Initially when Cryptic put out their video I was a little bummed because they weren't using the PE designed uniforms. I really liked those uniforms, so I was totally jazzed when in the latest videos the characters started sporting Perpetuals uniforms. Don't get me wrong, the uniforms from the original video were fine, but I like the perpetual ones better.

I happen to like the ST:O uniforms, they look like a modern DS9 Voy mix... which is good cause I was never crazy about the DS9 uniforms with the grey shoulders.
