I understand some ships will be more powerful than others while some will be faster etc but as to be honest i'd like to see how far i could go with an intrepid class ship instead of just changing everytime something better comes along. And considering space combat in star trek is usually about strategy maybe the most powerful ship wouldn't always be the best.

Whats your thoughts? Will you see how far you can go with your favourite ship or will you just upgrade everytime something with bigger guns comes along?

It really depends on how the game ends up being designed.

For myself, I will probably end up with possibly the Raptor or *possibly* a Vorcha, unless there is another ship that is combat centric, but does not prevent me from enjoying the non-combat elements of the game. If the KDF is supporting their allies ships as well, I might be interest in a Gorn cruiser or Orion cruiser.

Good question! well I myself will not be flying in a soverign or neg'var, i'm hoping i can customize and design my own class of ship that's unique. :) If not i will be in a Defiant or K'vort..

To me, its not really about power... I don't even look at Star Trek that way, on which has the most powerful ship.

I like the exploration concept that emphesizes what ST is really about.

With that being said, I hope to find myself in ST:O by having the most advanced science ship there is out there.

Personally, my favorite class of ship is the Nova class, and I would like to go as far as I could in the game with that type of ship, even with the far superior Luna class (as far as science vessels go).

I'm sure that whatever type of ship class you choose, we'll be able to 'upgrade' them to allow better armor, sheilds, weapons, etc. while still keeping the basic shape and still recognizable as Intrepid or Nova, or whichever =P

I'll be flying the biggest, baddest science ship I can get my hands on :).

I'm worried that in order to get through higher level content we will be confined to one or two ships i.e. sov & galaxy to progress.

Think you are being a little too worried.

Probably won't matter much after my crew mutinies and sets me adrift in a shuttle.

If you think about it though, when you progress through the game so far and logged in so many hours with one ship... wouldn't you have some sort of bond with it? Especially all the work, upgrads and modifications you went through?

I would like to say that my choice of ships would be the Ambassador, Apollo (yes the Apollo), Centaur, Constellation, Nebula, Norway, or the Nova. I tend to like the smaller ships but over the years these ships just struck home as "darn I like them, but I do not know why?". Unless I can think of anyother reason for the federation not to like these ships, I would probably fly one of them based on what I choose to do.

On the otherside, however, the Klingons would be easy for me. If I had to choose for the Klingons, I would go with the K'tinga, D-14 (I believe that is the one), or the Death Rite. Those three ships always looked good to me, however, seeing how the game looks, choosing my side will be hard. There are too many good ships that I have seen that I dont know their name. Thats why it is best to leave stuff like this to a snap decision that will send me down my path on this game.:D Alittle bit of a mouth full:o

I will have the weigh the options of utility and functionality. Which ship available to me will best respond to my given play style. Weather I choose to Explore or Fight. One will need to weigh those options as there are going to be times were diplomacy will fail. Some race may not have a willingness to talk. First contact may not always be a peaceful one, even for the well intentioned.

Intrepid class all the way! I can't wait to get my hands on one. I won't leave it and it won't leave me until such a time I stop playing the game in the distant future. :p

When i get to that point, my primary ship (the one I'll spend the most time in) will be an ambassador class. I just love that class, its so....cute

it became my favorite design the moment i first saw it.

I'm just so indicisive!

At first I wanted a Freedom-class destroyer-scout for it's single nacelle goodness and the nostalgia it inpsired in me for classic 70's Star Trek games and ships from Joseph's technical manual. I'd still go for that, it is canonical, but it's also somewhat obscure and unlikely to make it into the game.

Then I fell for the Miranda-class light cruiser, a ship that's been around forever, and appears all over the place in every Next Generation Era series and even a TOS movie! That's my kind of ship: tough, utilitarian and low profile. More likely to appear in the game at some point but possibly out of service by this era.

Of what looks to be definitely in, I'll likely go for an Intrepid-class light cruiser. A light cruiser to me is a good balance between capability and flexibility. It's not as fragile as a destroyer or frigate but nobody will mistake her for a flagship either. A big enough crew size to introduce (for roleplaying) a new character now and then but small enough to feel like a ship rather than a flying city.

I would stay with norway, i like its individuality.

Restricted by what's available to me, it'll be the most powerful ship coupled with the ability to flee from battle if necessary. Death is not my friend.

I can't wait to see and fly the Vorcha, and will take the Raptor and Negh'Var for a spin or two, but when I am exploring space, or just cruising the galaxy without being focused on massive combat missions, I'll be spending most of my time in...

toQDuj Bird of Prey

I have always loved the look of the classic Bird of Prey, and look forward to spending a lot of time flying around the STO galaxy in my Bird of Prey.

Which ship will you use the most?

The largest, slowest, most overpowered vessel available.

I would say a Klingon Carrier but need more information before I can lock that.

I can't see that happening mate, think about it, 70% of the universe would be bout 3-4 different ships, that would look amazing......lee bad.

Heavily customised BOP for me, with my character being engineer based hopefully he can make it even more badass...
