I was just wondering because I haven't seen anything about the Intrepid class anywhere.. Is it going to be in the game? It's my absolute favorite ship class and I'd be extremely dissapointed if it didn't make it into the game.
I realize the game takes place 30 years post nemesis, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a Intrepid class "refit" on the go. It'd pretty much look the exact same with a few weapon/science upgrades. Anyone else hoping to see the Intrepid in Star Trek Online?? :) Or does anyone know if it's going to be in the game?

Yes. And if not you will be able to create it customizing a starship.

yes its in the game, jack has mentioned it several times, both as voyager and intrepid.
I think it is more to ask what if at all will the refit look like for it.

While I don’t really care for the Intrepid myself, I do think it would be nice to see it in game.
That said, the Intrepid was never really that common in Star Trek, to my knowledge only two have ever been seen on screen and I believe they are older than the Akira which featured much more frequently.

I like the Intrepid class and I think we'll almost certainly see it. I, like Thorn74, also seem to remember Jack mentioning it, though that's not confirmation!

I thought someone reported that it was listed in some MMORPG Gamer (I'm not sure if this is the right name) magazine article regarding STO, along with the Ambassador.
I think if the old Centaur and Miranda are making it into the game (and they are), then surely the Intrepid will be there as well.

The Akira is older than the Galaxy, the Intrepid was one of the most recent ships constructed in the known ST timeline.

Awesome good news if that's right! I've always loved the Miranda! (As of the week ago when I first started getting into this Star Trek stuff...)

Fail. Akira's (early 2370's) were put into production over ten years after the Galaxy (late 2350's) saw widespread use.

We didn't see the Akira until the 70's. Their registry numbers would put them in production in the late 50's/early 60's though. All canon and official Akira registries are in the 60k range, all Galaxies with the exception of Enterprise are in the 70's.

whats this about registry? my understanding is that the numbers are mostly meaningless. Jaeger had the prototype Akira with the last four digits of his phone number. Just watching the series, you don't see the appearance of the Akira until much after the Galaxy and Nebula classes are out and about.

We also rarely saw more than 2 ships on screen at any given time in TNG. And never a fleet battle.
The numbers may be mostly meaningless, but everything we've seen suggests they're fairly consistent in chronological terms, the older the ship, the lower the registry number. The Intrepids being a good example, we know they are new ships, and all 3 canon appearances have had 74XXX registries.

I could easily see the intrepid class in use, without a refit, but with some upgrades made.

The registry numbers are fairly meaningless. The Intrepids are newer than the Akiras, which in trun are newer than the Galaxy class. Bear in mnd that the Akiras were designed as cruisers in the tradition of the old Constitution class vessels. The Intrepid, Galaxy, and Sovereign classes are meant to be explorers.
This site is worshipped by canon followers (http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/starfleet_ships1.htm).

The registries fall in line with production order, with no exception I can think of except the Enterprise which always retains the same registry. I can not think of another instance in which a newer ship was given a lower registry than an earlier one. Just because the Akiras were not seen until the events of the Dominion War and First Contact does not mean that, in canon, they were not around before then. Out of universe, the Akira was designed post-TNG, which is why we saw the Galaxy first.
It's like asking why we never saw Denobulans in TNG, they were surely around in universe, but out of universe they weren't created until Enterprise and so you never could see them, because the writers themselves were unaware of them and could not write them into the show at the time. So, basing the argument that the Akiras came after the Galaxy on the fact that we saw the Galaxy before the Akira is flawed.
The USS Akira's registry may have been Jaeger's phone extension INITIALLY, but I believe it was Michael Okuda who tagged a 6 on the front of the registry to make it acceptable for canon.

while i wholly agree, only an actual srceen of a particular item "in game" is definate proof. I would put anything the devs mention in an "in-game" context as pretty solid. In other words, its the best we have to go on for now.

I certainly hope Intrepid's are in, I'll be crushed if they aren't as I plan on spending a WHOLE lot of time in one :)

Surely, some incarnation of the Intrepid will be in. If not the Intrepid proper, then I'd expect to see some sort of upgraded spinoff of the same configuration (like the Oslo is to the Norway).

Mind you, I never liked the Norway design anyway, but the Oslo doesn't seem to have anything to do with the design other than the odd flat nacelles.
But yes, I can't see some sort of Intrepid and/or variant not being in game. It's much 'newer' than several of the ships that have been confirmed to be in all ready.

The Oslo has the some configuration as the Norway, but the individual parts seem to be more inspired by the Akira.
