I am for both of these...I would love to see some info on the defiant, but something about a totally original ship would also be pretty cool.

I'd also love to see information on the Ambassador class, refit I would imagine.

No, not really. I think I have a clear idea:

There will be plenty of interiors in the game at launch - there are plenty in the game right now and I don't see them going anywhere. : )

You will be taken to interiors during instanced missions. You'll go to them in persistent ways as well - mostly social, but also in other cases that I'm going to be vague about right now on purpose : ) - There are starbases, satellites, ship interiors (yes, ships), buildings on the ground, caverns under the earth or deep in asteroids - all sorts of places you'll adventure within interiors.

Sadly, what we won't have at launch is the ability for you to customize your own ship, invite other players over and walkaround, seeing hundreds of NPC crew members and investigate every nook, cranny and Jefferies tube on it. We want to make sure that when we a feature like this in, it is a robust system that people will love, not just a marketing bullet point on the back of the box.

My bets are on a more mainstream Federation ship, like the Akira, or even more likely, a Cryptic-made Fed ship. However, I'm really hoping to see either the Stargazer-A, a Luna, a Vesta, or a Rommie ship (any of them, but most importantly a D'deridex). I seriously doubt it will be a romulan ship. Romulans won't be playable at launch, so its either a Klingon or Federation ship ... and given that the last one revealed was a Klingon Raptor, I'd venture a guess that today will be a Federation ship. I just hope its something completely new and not just some slight face lift of an existing class.

That would be sweet, and my respect for Cryptic would go up 10 fold if they were ballsy enough to do that.

Everyone complains that the NX is just an inverted Akira (despite the differences), so that would be hilarious if they literally inverted the NX and made it a third ship. Just as a tongue-in-cheek joke mind you.

But yes, during the Dominion war I think all onscreen casualties were mostly Excelsiors, Mirandas, and Akiras.

I don't think that really means much. I don't think I recall ever seeing a Steamrunner destroyed during the Dominion War, but 2-3 of them were torn apart at the Battle of Sector 001.

Using Legacy as your guide is not the best of options, since the capabilities of each of the starships in that game are either greatly exaggerated or under powered.

if i recall in those DS9 battels even the Hero ship got blown up so that is no real statement the Akira got sneezed on and went boom

After being battered to death by other attacks. Yes, we know the defiant blew up many times, and and can take an insane amount of plot hole damage, that has destroyed Galaxy class ships as well.

You might actually want to count there first before you make that claim.

Defiant hit by EMP blast.

Takes one direct shot after that into the center under section of the ship.

Takes two more direct shots to the upper section of the ship then Sisko calls for abandon ship.

Escape pod launches then the ship takes 3 more direct shots to the lower middle section before exploding. And that's what I saw and was actually paying attention to.

I personally enjoy the Akira, had a ton of fun in SFC3 with it. But hell anyone can have fun in any ship there. The Luna definatly fits most of the Ship peramiters they have shown and would have been easy for them to create, my money's on either of them.

Looks good. Seems to be an Akira with a saucer modification, maybe nacelles modified.

Hopefully we'll see the Ships of the Line entry for it in the next day or two.

Then again, that main page ship is a good way for them to unveil ships that will be in the game, either stock ships or modified versions, without each one having a Ships of the Line page.

I think we all would want each ship to have a Ships of the Line page, but it could be a good approach to have the Ships of the Line entries be the "stock" or standard version of the ships and then the ship image on the main page could represent one possible modification of the ship that was featured in the Ships of the Line entry.

Very cool entry and story for the Oslo ship.

I like how this entry has the paragraph describes why certain captains prefer this ship. That is something that should be done in all the future entries. We can get an idea of the type of role the ship plays in the stats and description, but it's a nice touch to add a final paragraph saying basically "Captains who like _____ prefer this ship."

Another suggestion to go with the future Ships of the Line would be to release a new desktop wallpaper image of the ships so players who like the ship and want to make that their ship could display it on their desktops.

Please Awen, let the next ship be a Klingon ship :) Alternating factions would keep both sides happy.
