Not sure whether this is the best place for this question, but I'm asking it anyway: how exactly do the forum ranks work? When do you become a senior member, to be precise? At how many posts? This is pretty much the only forum I'm active on, so I'm clueless. Guessing 100, though.

correct ....senior member = 100 posts ..... not sure if there are any other ranks, beside devs.
though i seem to remember Awen saying something about forum titles as prizes for some contests.

The ranks need an update. Something like:
Ensign = new members
Lt Commander = 100 posts
Commander = 250 posts
Captain = 500 posts
Admiral = 1000 posts

That would be cool, but I disagree. Let's save that for the actual game and prevent a lot of confusion between in-game ranks and forum ranks.
Adding another, even higher rank, like Elite Member at 1,000 posts or so, that would be nice.

Confusion? Are you serious? I dont know of any MMO or anyone that plays them that thinks forum ranks mean anything in game :o

I say it repeatedly, I am aware of that. I wish they would remove those titles or let them be custom and get rid of the post counts.

I agree, unless there is going to be a direct correlation between forum accounts and in-game characters, then dispense with the titles or leave them as is. Besides, they're Starfleet ranks and theres enough Fed centric content on this forum as is.

I brought up Star Trek forum ranks a while back. One of 'em said they'd think about it but it wouldn't happen, if ever, any time soon since they'd rather focus on other stuff.

well if you want to avoid using federation ranks *grins* we could always try something more like
Wali = new members
Sand walker - 100
Worm rider - 250
Fedykin - 500
