Well, title says it all, your thoughts?
Should it be a feature? d=
Likely not, but it is something to discuss nonetheless.

Hmm..
I think "Redshirt goes down with the ship" would be more accurate to cannon....

If I was a captain I would rally against that ridiculous tradition. It's poetic but it's stupid. If the captain has done all he can and he can get off the ship before it explodes he should. He shouldn't take somebody else's place to do so but if him staying serves no purpose other than to stay with tradition then that's just daft.

Is this an indirect way to talk about perma death?
I really don't think there would be a good way to represent this in game. Unless you want to see all your crew jump out through escape pods then show you being the last one.
I am just having a hard time seeing how this would work with gameplay mechanics.

I can't recall any Captain except Janeway "going down with the ship", and even that timeline was fixed.

I believe Picard, but Ent-D was never actually blown up..

Isnt that up to you already? If you want to "go down with your ship" then be my guest. Whos to stop you? So long as you dont try and say every captain should have to, I have no problems with that you do :o

I do not ever figure to have my ship in a do or die situation.
A smart Captain thinks ahead

Kobayashi Maru, man. Sometimes you just flat run into those annoying no-win scenarios...unless you're like Kirk/Picard/Sisko/Janeway/Archer that is....
