Im not sure whether this has already been talked about in detail in previous threads, but im interested in the

response. FEEL FREE TO POST ALL COMMANDS U KNOW.

It is my understanding that We will have the ability to do ground missions with 5 crew members. If u are

playing solo you will have 4 members, that u as a player, will control. What i would like to adress is the

commands and functions that u will be able to control and assign these "pets". Ill start by saying the

commans that i have seen in the past.

basic:

-Attack ,follow, stop, get healing, retreat
-Defensive, aggressive, neutral

When commanding 1+ pets:

-grp 1,2,3... attack target/s
-grp 1,2,3... go to waypoint/s

When we have more than 1pet things get tricky. Personally i feel that Cryptic should consider the vast

number of good RTS games out there and figure out what works best for 3rd person view (which is all that

we've seen so far). I think if they added in a sweet command like "ON MY MARK" then ur pets would do the

command on the signal hehe i think that would be cool. Any others out there?

The only game i can think of that has 3rd person RTS would be Kingdom Under Fire for the old xbox. But it didnt have commands like "duck and cover" which i think would be essential in a star trek game.

Other commands:
-sneak attack , ranged attack, close , melle,
-all fire at once at target/s,
-heal, scout, analize, repair, study,

In this case, I am more interested in Quality, than quantity.

I would be happier with 3 or 4 pet commands, and have the Pet AI be intellegent, than have 20 pet commands and watch my away team take the most illogical route.

In MASSEFFECT, there were times that the AI was a pain, and other times I was pleasently surprised -- hey, she actually is standing behind cover, and laying down suppressing fire. (I actually sat there an watched it in disbelief for a few moments).

Mass Effect might be a good analogy to look to for ground combat, as is bridge commander for space combat.
For all who did not play it. Mass Effect is a third person shooter in which you have a behind the shoulders- camera. You are able to command up to two other teammembers with commands like "walk to" or "take cover" or similar stuff. Also you are able to order them to use psionic and bionic abilities that could be similar to abilities certain species in STO could use in combat. The fighting grounds give opportunities for tactical maneuvers.

However the AI of the NPC-enemies is rather dumb. I hope for more in STO.

In my opinion, the AI of NPCs in general has always been bad.

Atleast in EQ, the stupidity was made up for by the leathlity of the game (trains, wide aggro zones, socialability, etc). Since EQ, it seems like Devs are afraid to make Mobs difficult, as if games will go running from the computer crying if they lose in a difficult fight. MO.
