What I have thought about for a while now is a statement (don't remember were i found it) that said cryptic had more (probably much more) people assigned to Champions online than to STO. I thought the reason to be obvious: Cryptic needs another successful MMO to stay over water. And they need it released asap.
But since cryptic has become part of Atari I really thought about if they will reassign most of their developement team to STO since STO is obviously a great deal more potential than CO.
The community is persistent and the game looks very promising. Do you think Cryptic is gonna draw their devs to STO post CO-release?:)

Some of them maybe. But they'll leave alot of them to work on expantions and work out bugs.

They have another project in the works... I imagine if things are going well, that one will take people who are not still busy.
Also I would think this works in steps so that people in part B of the process of CO go to part B of the process in STO when CO moves on to part C. People who do part A tasks will already have started on game number 3.... I really have no idea and don't do programming but it seems like there would always be something for everyone to do, even if outside their specialty...

I believe they've already mentioned this. Once Champions is online, there will be more availability of people to help out with STO. They won't be devoting their entire crew, of course, but certain people from the development of one game usually get assigned to another to help move it along.

Is there anything specific known about this third project? That is completely new to me. The page itself does not suggest another game in developement (although they need to do one eventually at some point)...
Don't you think that it would be wiser to only have so many MMOs running... don't they drag their own customers from one MMO to the next...
also they would need to focus on constantly increasing content to have any one of theese MMOs running for longer than two years...

Some of the crew will be reassigned, but some will still be working on CO. But once CO is out the door I expect progress of STO will increase.

Maybe he's referring to this: http://www.crypticstudios.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=87&Itemid=34
They seem to have concept art for some sort of cthulhu-esque type of game?

Ok it's Tomb Raider Online obviously ^^
Seriously, they seem to have sniffed blood on ancient ruins and stuff (they were all eager about this on STO remember ;))
They are obviously planning some sort of Atlantis-digup thingy... have to admit I am curious...

I was originally speculating it could be a Warmachine MMO. Cryptic's people love those Privateer Press games, and on of the concept art pics looked like it... It will probably be another known IP, and with Atari now funding it, who the heck knows.
But regarding limiting the number of games... that's hardly what you call growth. It's not a matter of spreading the team thinner, it's about bringing more people in. I just hope all goes well with this diversification.

On a related note I'm hoping they will offer some sort of "access pass" like SOE has for all three games.

Yes, I'm hoping there's a discount for subscribing to multiple games at once, with the same User Account.
For example: maybe once you have ONE game subscription, you get a $5 discount on the month-to-month rate for all OTHER Cryptic games? All three would thus be 15+10+10 = $35 (instead of 15+15+15 = $45). That'd be awesome - $35 for three games, I can possibly swing ... $45, no way, I'd have to pass on one of them ...

I don't remember what the Access Pass cost exactly, but I believe I paid less than $50 a month for access to EQ, EQ2, SWG, Vanguard, Planet Side, PotBS, and Maxtrix Online, I only owned 5 of those 7, but it was still cheaper than paying for each separately.
