I read on wikipedia that Star Trek Online was going to be for Xbox and PS3, but since the title says 'Online', is it going to be for the PC?

As far as I know, it is on the PC. I also know it will be on console as well, but I'm not sure which one.

Yes, Star Trek Online will be playable on the PC, at the very least.

If it wasnt for PC then it would lose half its customers. Anyway i hope it comes out on Xbox 360, then i can get the game for both and compare ^^

I'm going with the PC because you have to pay for Xbox Live.

PC -- absolutely.

We are developing for console as well -- we'll release more info when we have the details nailed down.

It's a business and tech thing -- I just write. :p

You don't have to pay for Silver which is all that's required to play an MMO on Xbox Live.

You don't need Live Gold for something like an MMO, the Gold subscription only pays for Microsofts Live servers whereas an MMO uses its own servers.

I am still new to this so if I missed something.... sorry! The game is going to be on PC, xbox and PS.... ( from other things I read on the net... don't know if thats true...) with one server? How would everyone be able to play together if xbox and PS are at war for our money? The two of them DO NOT play well together!

Sorry if I'm off base....

There has been no games that cross platform with Playstation yet. There are only a few that crossplatform XBOX/PC together. But it can be done, and the war for our money on which platform to buy is inconsequential to the issue. Playstation just hasn't been able to do it so far. DCUO had content update incompatability issues or something... but like I said it can be done, it just hasn't been done yet.

I really hope it's a bundle with a keyboard. I'm definitely not using voice comms in this game unless it's an emergency. You hear horror stories, and see youtube clips, about some folks out there.

Although I probably would not play the game on a console, I actually think the idea of having the game released on multiple platforms is a good one since more players will be able to access the game. In addition, if there is one single server for all players regardless of platform (though I am not sure if that is logistically possible) would be truly epic, in my opinion.

All I got to say about the consoles, is I want to be able to have decent control over mapping functions to the buttons on my game pad. I hate it when a console game basically gives you certain layouts for gampad controls and thats it!

Maybe it's just being spoiled by the extra options in PC games and being able to bind the game controls to whatever 108 keys or more that I want to. It just kills me why this can't be an option for consoles as well. Sure just play and go is fine, Templates are fine for those that don't want to mess with them. But at least give us the option.

Then you may be interested that Cryptic Studios is looking for a PS3 programmer.

link (http://www.crypticstudios.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=234&Itemid=46)

PS3 Engine Programmer
We are currently looking for a full time PS3 Engine Programmer.

Are you interested in a challenge? We have developed a flexible, cutting edge MMO platform to power games like Champions and Star Trek Online. It runs on PC and XBOX 360 - now we want to support PS3 too. Are you an expert PS3 coder? Do you enjoy squeezing every last drop of performance and spare memory out of the system?

So it's very promising, but nothing confirmed yet. At least we know they are wanting to make a game for the PS3. It will probably start out on Champions Online, but trickle over to STO,.

I hope so, as my Brokebox 360 is shot, and I have 360 game clan brothers who are on their 3rd. or 4th (even) 360! I DON'T PLAN ON sending mine in so that it can break again (though 360's Xbox Live is excellent and I miss it), so I hope the Devs. create a PS3 Version as well.:D

You can use a keyboard and mouse with the PS3

This is great, if so, as it is hardly immersive to navigate a starship with a PS3/360 Controller rather than, as it should be, with a Keyboard. I know you can use a keyboard for text chat/PMs on the PS3, as I have used my PC keyboard on my PS3 for just that, but to be able to use it to control my STO vessel, yeah, baby (though I'd still like the ability to use the PS3 Controller for the hand-to-hand, ground combat situations-devs., please?:D).

Great forum/threads; keep it coming, gang!;)

Here, here. And you talk about introducing the ST universe to a wider audience, with the result being the need for sequels to this installment, it would be well worth it to do cross platform for this MMORPG! I hope it happens.;)

you know... ms natal could be something huge for startrek online xbox360

like, most of the complexity could be voice controlled

and natal even offers video link, which would be great for hailing ships

Just think how awesome the 360 version would be with all that ;)

Well considering that I and thousands of others have already pre-ordered the game for PC, and will be playing in the open beta in less than a week, I'd say You have nothing to worry about.

I already pre-ordered for PC. but I would be interested in playing this game on a console as well :)
Hopefully on the same servers!
