I was curious to what you would like to see if Cryptic releases a new teaser/trailer when the new Trek movie comes out. I think it would be a smart move on thier part because they would be hitting thier core audience, and get the attention of some people who don't really know about this game yet.

My personal choice would be just a simple teaser trailer where the Borg's voice comes on to a pitch black screen and says, "We are the Borg. We will assimilate your technological and biological uniqueness to our own. Resistance is futile." Then the Star Trek Online logo fades in along with the Star Trek theme, and the logo says "Star Trek Online. Coming Fall of 2009."

I know my idea is not the best, or the most original, but I'm just curious to see what other peopl can come up with.

if the movie does hold up to bringing more of a broader audience, chances are the influenced masses are gonna jam home after the flick and search about all things star trek... hopefully falling ass backwards onto STO stuff.

what cryptic already has up is sound enough to get any real gamer out there motivated, but yeah... wouldnt hurt to see some more goodies for sure when the movie releases :D

spoil me PLEASE!!

I think it would be wise to release a new trailer for game as part of the trailers attached to the star trek movie itself.so when people sitting to watch movie the game is there front and center.

I agree...not sure I would go with the Borg as a primary ad., but putting something flashy and interesting in the previews at the theatre would be nice (if they can afford it of course :)).

Couldn't hurt. It would give exposure to the very demographic they want and the people who are excited about the movie, but are new to Star Trek.

didnt WoW do that too?

but yeah. and as far as chauking up the dough for it, I dont know how they set up spots for previews with new release movies... id like to think its like the superbowl where you fork over a load of cash and reserve a spot. if that is the case paramount should get up on it and just give a spot to cryptic, that way they can save the money for something even more spectacular to woo the audiences. because obviously the more ppl wooed = more subscriptions = more money for Star Trek franchise = a happy paramount. right? :P

Maybe something simple like the STO logo and someone screaming STAR TREK ONLINE BUY IT!!!! and then show the date

I for one want less teaser trailers and more content trailers. Teasers only raise my hopes and get me excited then there is nothing left to watch after 30 sec. I would like to see maybe another faction fighting like the Klingons. Show some Borg assimilating a planet. I dont know something from a different angle thean the federation.

Sounds good to me, maybe some kind of action-y gameplay footage (imagine it on the big screen........ /drool)
followed by a fade to black with the STO logo and general release date.

Bump....any sign that this might happen? I couldn't think of a more perfect venue, and piggy-backing off the movie's likely massive advertising in the weeks before its release (they want this to be the kick off lbockbuster for the summer) seems like a good idea. Although I'm betting the cost of having a 30 second trailer is going to be high. Any STO/cryptic marketing folks care to comment?

If they do a trailer, I think it needs to be fairly action-packed, since they only have 30 seconds. Get the concept across of excitement, adventure, teamwork, battle. Try to appeal to a larger audience than just Trek fans, too, like the movie is trying to do. I'd like to see it open sort of like Star Trek teaser trailers, that is with a Spock voiceover and some ST appropriate phrase, but then cut to some battle scenes for several seconds (cue hero music), close up real game shots with only minimal GUI boxes to help not scare away people, then a few seconds showing planetside exploration, or a ship rescue to emphasize it's not just a combat simulator, maybe instead of just music, have some actual voicechat from teamplay (e.g. "This is ship Xerxes, I'm firing on the bird of prey. Acknowledged Xerxes, main battle group coming to assist." type of stuff with appropriate vid. I.e. real people voices, to emphasize the group/social nature of the game), then a climactic moment where a ship takes a strike, or maybe an away team comes upon some awe-inspiring sight, then cut to darkness, with something like "Forget Captain Kirk, the future is in YOUR hands." and a closing tag, y'know short and sweet, maybe like "Star Trek Online. Coming Winter 2009. Go Boldly"

Anyway, this would be great, if they can afford it.....
