Will there be housing in DS9?
There should be! In the show there were literally thousands of people who could live at the station in the Habitat Rings.
I want to have quarters there. I would not mind staying there for a while and taking missions around that area and hanging out at the Promenade!

Thats a very good question, although housing hasn't been dicussed yet. I would probally say no that DS9 will not support housing, but it could change in the future. :)

I sure hope they have housing there, and at lots of prominent places. Failing that, we'll just have to log out at Quark's and hope we've still at least got the clothes on our back next we log in :D

Why no? why not have housing in a massive space station such as DS9?

I would give my left RAM chip for housing on DS9.

if we can't have housing on our ships at launch then it seems more viable to have them all at one place on the habitat ring at launch. It could just be a hole separately loaded area from the rest of DS9. But hell, I'm not a dev so I wouldn't know.

To the OP: Didn't you make a thread about non-ship housing not too long ago?

if you can have personal quaters on your ships then why not on capitals? i think if they implement housing it will be in both ships and capitals

Cause then everyone would be cramped onto Earth, Jupiter Station, DS9, ect.. cause they are iconic in the world of ST.

If they do I would like to see it on all space stations not just DS9.

Of course. However, how would it be decided who gets a place there? There would inevitably be higher demand for accommodation on DS9 than other stations and it can't be infinite. Usually such things could be handled by currency but obviously that doesn't work for the Federation. They could trade in gold pressed latinum but wouldn't that defeat the point of being free from currency? Random placement wouldn't work either because there are plenty of die-hard fans who would buy multiple copies of the game just to get a place on DS9.
I love the idea of accommodation on space stations / planets but getting the implementation right could take a lot of work when there are more important concerns to be addressed.

Just prevent anybody from getting housing on iconic constructs, other than perhaps planets. Earth, Riza, the Moon, ect.

Well, DS9 can fit at least 3 thousand people. But, I would assume the Federation faction would use some sort of "housing credits" that people could use to "rent" quarters on starbases and the like.
I've also always assumed that Starfleet officers had their needs provided to them by the Federation, but if they wanted luxuries, they had to pay for them themselves. Since the station is owned by the Bajoran government, maybe we'll have to pay them a certain number of litas (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Lita) to get quarters there.

It can be infinite if the homes are instanced. This would likely mean that people can't just walk in and check your place out (like SWG), but you should be able to take your friends in in a group or grant them permissions.
Personally I wouldn't live on DS9 it's way to obvious. A starbase would be cool though.

Narr I can't see anyone getting housing on DS(. I'm we'll be able to to hang out there sometimes, but not live there. Our homes will be our ships.

It would be cool to have a house there but in the game I do not see why it would be there. If 1million people leaved there in the game it would be odd. But having houses on planets would be kind of cool.

Obviously it's technically possible but not within the constraints of the Star Trek universe, not that having 3000 Starfleet captains would make much sense either. Personally I'd love to see entire stations like DS9 modelled and with fixed accommodation so you could see how other people have decorated them (trophies, photos, furniture, etc). I'd definitely pick somewhere non-obvious. It's a bit obvious to go for DS9 and even though it's my favourite of the Star Trek series I'd still most likely pick somewhere else (provided there was a good range of choice).

Well if they arent going to have ship interiors at launch wouldnt that include space stations? Well maybe not since they need to have interiors for us to explore for quests. So yeah I just argued myself out of my point go me!
Player housing would be cool. But I would like it to do something in game. Like I just dont want a room I go in and log out. It would be nice to have some gameplay value through your house/room. Maybe convert it to a bazar to sell things. Set it as a point to meet quest givers or something like that.

Well, even if they don't have station interiors, its still nice to speculate.

Not necessarily. Fleet bases yes, but I would imagine places like DS9 which would be hubs similar to planets would have interiors. They'd be no different from planets, and even easier. Bases usually share a lot more interior uniformity than ships.
I'd expect housing to come in an expansion.

Yeah ignore that first paragraph by me :P
I do hope they have some interiors in the game. I can understand makeing interiors for the ships would be time consuming and needs more time. But if they limited it to space stations then they might be able to do that. It would be fun to walk the halls of DS9 and explore all the nooks and crannies where Quark hides is merchandise.

Maybe permanent player housing on iconic stations and planets could be a reward for server events or meta-achievements.

The city/inn idea in WoW (as a place to rest) could apply to hubs in STO as well. It may not be player housing, but we can say we've spent the night at DS9 at least.
Perhaps the episodic content will assign us and our ships to different sectors of space as we move on, and we would be given (temporary) quarters at the local starbase for the duration and for shore leave? Much like every and any bank in Warcraft has all of your items, your quarters would remain the same as you move from station to station, so that you can buy stuff for them/upgrade them as you see fit, and have that "lived in" feeling.
(I know DS9 is of Cardassian design, and that every other station we may stay on will likely be of Starfleet design, but for the sake of simplicity let's ignore that and have our quarters "instanced" or whatever, such that we have that "home") :p

This seems the most plausable of the ideas so far, I like it you can have your room look like however you like and it will follow you around werever you go. To make it fit into the startrek universe you could say that all ship and station rooms are fitted with holo imiters and project there ocupants saved quaters when entered (although i understand there trying to keep themselves from dumping stuff down the holodeck option)

That would be awesome, and I imagine it can be done too since stations are for the most part symmetrical and repeating sections like a Scooby Doo hallway.
