Ive read summer 09, autumn 09, beginning 2010, spring 2010 and 2011!

So thats optimistic all the way through to pessimistic. Frankly other than the devs - no one knows. Personal idea - i bet open beta is released as the film is in cinemas

No game will end WoW which is fine with me. They like their game they can hve it. I wasn't a huge fan of the comunit there anyways.

when WoW2 comes out. Theyre already working on it. See E3 '09.

STO will be coming out this September or October, with a Beta in may. kk?

It won't. It's already the tail end of Feb. That gives just over two months before the film comes out. They haven't even started closed beta. So I wouldn't hold your breath on a may 8 release.

Because Gamestop pulled a number out of their nether and people take anything Gamestop as gospel apparently, even though Cryptic has not made an official statement on it, and the only thing Cryptic has ever said was Fall of 09.

Well I definitely feel for the people who have been around since PE and sto.net. I cant imagine waiting 5 years for STO and going through the ups and downs. I heard of STO awhile back but I didnt really get into it until game informers article. None the less the only option is to wait until cryptic gives a release date.

I'm not sure SW:TOR will be that much of a worry. BioWare can make great single player games, but those games rarely have a replay value, and that's a major factor in the longevity of an MMO, it's replayability. Furthermore, EA is backing SW:TOR and I hate to be negative about it, but considering EA will cancel projects at the drop of a hat, the longevity of SW:TOR could be put into question if EA so much as glances at the game.

Not to mention I am not sure that many Star Wars fans care about an era that has already been written, and I think more would be interested in the New Republic era.

You have a point about EA, but I have faith in Bioware, and TOR is the only other MMO that has so much as entered my mind since STO was announced (and I first heard about STO back in the PE days).

That is dated from early Dec 08. 3 Months on now. I'll be happy if its Q4 09 or Q1 10, its not like I haven't been waiting several years already.

You do know Atari renigged that statement not long after that statement was made, and several devs, and I even think Jack himself, said the fall 09 release date is still on for STO. Less doom and gloom and more reading about.

i render we will see a closedbeta opening up in june/july afther champions online beta testing is done and the game is ready to ship. they can then use the res they used to beta test champions to test STO.
i mean why give away beta spots now if your not planning to start the beta untill 2010-2011.

but on the other side we still have 24 years to go on the story line ( well 23 since the last part will be posted the moment the server open up on release date)

atm if they dont post more then 1 year every month we will have to wait at least 2+ more years for STO.
and ofc they cant put out 2 a month every time because then you know they will be done very soon :eek:

so i render they still gun for fall 2009 all i think its more for Q2 2010 all i hope they make the Q3 of 2009 OFC :)

Not really...it would be like for example the movie... stardate 05.08.09, cause they're not going to confuse people.
