A question

I ws reading some of the ask cryptic stuff and one of the things that caught my eye was ship design. They said that you would be able to make ships of certain class. I figured with the level of custumization Cryptic is known for, would we be able to mix and match certain parts to create your own alien ship unique to your race? Figured since we can create our own races, why not make the ships just as flexible to fit the aliens you create and their origins.

Figured since we can create our own races, why not make the ships just as flexible to fit the aliens you create and their origins.

Players will be flying ships of the faction they belong to. Every Starfleet vessel is deigned and built by Starfleet, not by the member races.

Having said that, I do hope that there will be more variety on the Klingon side; would be good if Orions, Gorn, and Nausicaans get their own ship designs and not have to fly Klingon ships.

Thats whaT i mean it's limited. If you are not in any of the factions and have your own like i'm planning on doing you should be able to have your own unique ship seperate from any faction. not every one is planing on joing the fed or any of the other factions. doesn't make sence to force you to be in them and fly their ships. they should make it as unique as your races are. shoulld be dealt with the same way the races are. have the existing ships and factions and then have the option to make your own. that's the concept of guillds. I been placryptic games for a long time and the7y are known for the amount of customi9zability. in a way this is a step back for them.

Sorry, but it is a faction game. The possibility of independents has been raised as a possible expansion, but at launch it will be Federation or Klingons.

I may be wrong but I think they stated you had to join either the federation or the klingon empire.

I have to agree that I'm sad there is not any "Non-Alligned" faction, it seems a little bit weird to me, but I guess I'll have to make due and hope for the best, since I would prefer to have a more race specific class ship then federation/klingon :(

I always loved the games cryptic made ever since I started playing City of Heroes 4 and a half years ago and now going to champs o. I just found it odd that they would only give us that amount of freedom on the aliens and crew but nothing elseI am a very creative person and love to think out of the box, which is why I love their games.

Well they are giving us quite a bit of "Artistic" freedom on the ship side of things(maybe too much?) but your confined to klingon federation vessel layouts because of the faction status.

It would appear that they are focusing on getting a core game together. Also in the case of the Federation ships there can only be so much customization before many Trek fans complain about canon vs. fun.

As was said, we know little about the Klingon faction at the moment so they may allow members of the various species that make up that faction more freedom.

Most likelly I'll join the fedaration since the faction I have has similar idealls. I do like that you can use other allien tech to upgrade, so that is something to look foward to.
