Breif History of the Pakled empire!

(From Wiki)

The Pakleds are a heavyset humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant. To the casual observer, the Pakleds appear to be intellectually challenged, especially in their verbal skills.

The Pakleds are driven by their unwillingness to wait to gain their own technological knowledge. They therefore try to acquire technology from other species, generally by theft. (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")

In 2365, a Pakled transport first encountered the USS Enterprise-D in the Rhomboid Dronegar sector 006. The ship, named the Mondor, had sent out a Mayday because their ship was broken and they wished to acquire new technology. They were offered assistance by the Enterprise, who lent the Pakleds their chief engineer, Geordi La Forge, to help fix their ship. The Pakleds kidnapped La Forge, but eventually returned him after the Enterprise showed a display of its "force," with a harmless pyrotechnic display involving the Bussard collectors. (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")

In 2366, a Pakled trade ship rescued Lore after he had drifted in space for nearly two years. (TNG: "Brothers")

A Pakled on the PromenadeIn the search for the Duras sisters, Lursa and B'Etor, in 2370, the USS Enterprise entered the Kalla system, which lies within Pakled space. (TNG: "Firstborn")

In late 2370, the Pakleds crossed the Demilitarized Zone to supply the Cardassians with a shipment of retro-viral vaccines. (TNG: "Preemptive Strike")

Pakleds frequently visited Deep Space 9 and were likely to be found at Quark's or on the Promenade.

When Major Kira was paying Kubus Oak a visit in DS9's holding cell, a Pakled was seen in the background, sitting in another cell. (DS9: "The Collaborator")

Two Pakleds visited Deep Space 9 during the strike of the employees of Quark's. Alongside a Bolian woman they were almost the only guests in the establishment. (DS9: "Bar Association")

Well I dont have to play a packled race but as long as we can make our avatars fat and stuiped looking (just like a Pakled) then I would be happy 8)

Can we make a fat toon?

TimothyTwoThumbs

I would build the fattest Pakled avatar ever and wander around the Galaxy trying to sucker the federation out of their crew engineers!
This is a great idea I will join your Packled race and make a fat stupid avatar...I had a fat Mon-Calamari inSWG was funny to see him run around and stuff.

I dont know if I want to be Klingon faction tho.
Could a Pakled be in the Federation or the Klingon Empire?

Different strokes for different folks. I never found them to be anything useful. "We Pakled. We far from home" " We love power" Not the most intelligent life forms out there. They don't look like they would be very usefull for hand to hand combat either.

Nubadak

Well really the Pakleds have turned out to be very useful eg:

-----In 2366, a Pakled trade ship rescued Lore after he had drifted in space for nearly two years. (TNG: ----"Brothers")

Poor Lore would have just kept on floating if not for the Pakleds.
And :

--In late 2370, the Pakleds crossed the Demilitarized Zone to supply the Cardassians with a shipment of retro-viral vaccines. (TNG: "Preemptive Strike")

The Pakleds went "looking for things" found some vaccines it "made them go" stright across the battle zone and into Cardasia. If they hadent gone looking for things the war may have ended sooner.

The Pakleds are just simply the luckiest race is STO...thinki of all the good they have done and what good they have done that we don't know about...lol

Well prob the biggest reason I wana be able to make a Pakled is so I can be funny.
And make a fat avatar. No game out side of SWG as I know of can let me make a fat guy.

A lil more Pakled history:
Grebnedlog was the Captain of the Pakled ship Mondor that was encountered by the USS Enterprise-D in 2365.
After Grebnedlog had asked for repair assistance, he captured Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge and held him hostage. The Pakleds got their technology by stealing it from other species, so Grebnedlog informed Riker that he would release La Forge if all the information from the Enterprise computer was transferred to his ship. After La Forge managed to disarm the Pakleds' onboard weapons, Riker threatened to destroy them and faked the destruction of their weapons by means of a Crimson force field. Grebnedlog, impressed by this force field, released La Forge because the Enterprise was "strong". (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")
Grebnedlog was played by Christopher Collins. Grebnedlog's name was never spoken on-screen; it was only in the script. The name is a reversal of the name "Goldenberg," though what significance this has is unknown.

Hmm neat stuff.

Two Pakleds walk into Ten Forward. They walk up to Guinan and one says, "We would like to complain."
Guinan replies, "Complain? About what?"
"We would like to complain about your prune juice," the other replies.
Puzzled, Guinan asks,"The prune juice? What's wrong with it?"
One Pakled looks at the other, then turns back to Guinan and says, "It makes us go."

I was engaged in a long and tiresome debate recently. All of my life I have enjoyed, as do many Klingon warriors, telling Pakled jokes. For example, How many Pakleds does it take to prepare a meal of gagh? Ten! One to hold the plate and nine to chase the worms! Classic. That is one of the great Pakled jokes, I heard that as a young child on the schoolyard. Perfectly harmless.

Here's the real question: are Pakleds good enough for the Borg to assimilate? If you answered no, then they are not worthy of being in the game :D:D:D

they would certainly offer the least amount of resistance! lol

And being Borg it isn't necessary to think! Thats what the collective is for! ;)

Pakleds could easily be made with Cryptics character creation tool. While they may not be a represented race with their own ships and planet. Your are certainly allowed to make a alien that looks like a Pakled.

Now it's a whole other question, on if we can make fat characters. Typically, MMO's only allow you to make realatively fit characters. Why? Well they are the mobile and agile characters, and they can make one animation sequence for all characters. When you start adding fat characters in the game, things start looking weird with the same animation sequences. You have fat looking characters that are moving to fast for their size, uniforms that don't fit and doorways that are to small.

Some of this may be over exaggeration, but it's not an over exaggeration that he developers would have to make seperate textures, uniforms, clothes, animations just for larger characters. It's easier if all the characters are of the same size and shape.

It's easier sure but fat characters are possible just by stretching. It works in SWG well enough, there is (or was) on my server the fattest shortest wookiee entertainer possible, lol he looked great.

They wouldn't have to have a perfect look for uniforms etc for fat characters as not many would play like that anyway, but with most of the uniform being black I doubt it would look all that strange anyway.

wouldn't call what SWG was capable as fat. Overweight yes, but not fat.

I found a little more Pakled lore:

Pakleds are short, stocky humanoids with large bushy eyebrows. They are fairly simple-minded, but they keep pace with the capabilities of other spacefaring races by stealing technology (such as shields of Romulan design) from ships they encounter.
Pakleds tend to speak in a very simple and childlike way ("We look for things. Things that make us go. Can you make us go?" "We are smart, we are strong!!"). This can fool a Good Samaritan into thinking the Pakleds are harmless and helpless; the Pakleds wait until their benefactors' guard is down, then use a show of force to take what they need."

Perhaps the play style for us Pakled players?

-5 engineering
+5 vs fear ..too dim to fear most things
-10 intel
+15 trade ..a general lack of honor and morals make the trade career easier to excel at

if you can't get it anywhere else, you can buy it from a pakled...which should cause you
to rethink your reasons for buying it in the first place.

...my best guess

Here's the real question: are Pakleds good enough for the Borg to assimilate? If you answered no, then they are not worthy of being in the game :D:D:D
Pakleds are what the Borg were before they were the Borg. After all, Pakleds get all of their technology by taking it from other races too, and the individuals tend not to think much. But in large numbers they can be dangerous. Just think Pakleds who evolved a couple of million years doing what they do. ;)

Besides, Pakleds can be quite useful. They're the ones that brought us Simple Wikipedia (http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) after all (or at least someone copied their speech pattern).

Seriously though, depending on whether Cryptic includes the parts it should be possible to make Pakled avatars; forehead ridges, some more around the eyes, and the ability to make your avatar heavy-set should be pretty much enough. Wouldn't mind seeing them.
