Do I need to say anything more.....
With sexy uniform models, avatar female customization should also allow us to make them sexy :D. So you can make
7of9 or Jadzia Dax or...... Moogie LOL.

Am I the only one that thinks 'No'
Starfleet and Klingon High Command are military type organisations at the core, Do you see our female army members in skimpy Camo clothing?, No you see them buried under the regulation uniforms, Same goes for star trek, The women wore the same as the men, with the exception of Troi, Kira and 7, (Kira and 7 only wore those outfits as they were not part of starfleet: Untill Kira joined for the DW), The furthest it could go is an all-in-one style like Tos

...and besides, is there anything sexier than a woman in uniform, to begin with?

Um.... no, unless its Risa or somewhere else where the outfits are actually supposed to be sexy. And it obviously should go both ways, if women get skimpy outfits so should men.
I'd prefer they put effort into taco bars on all the ships first though.

Dont worry, I agree with you ... the last thing we need are half naked women running around.

Um, no, it doesn't. Not unless we're talking about trying to make sure the MIrror Universe is accurate to the times we've seen it. Games already cater to adolescent, hormone-crazed males by putting making every female in their games have a large chest, anorexic waist, and little to no clothing. It's a cheap, effective, and unimaginative way to draw in players (this also applies for TV and movies, as well). Rather than focus on substance, creators just rely on the fact that sex sells. This was the point of showing the Mirror Universe in this light; in it, women are objects subjected to sexist double standards. It's degrading and horrendously biased towards the horny, younger male crowd. Anyone with half a brain can draw them in. Pander to over-active libidos and you'll never lose that crowd.
If you propose that this should be included in the game, why only women? Why do we never see men in uniforms like this? If the option is there for female characters, it should be for men as well. To do otherwise is to uphold a ridiculous double standard, and one that does not even come close to the social equality espoused in Star Trek (at least after TOS ). Please, just leave this out entirely. Cryptic does not need to waste time using juvenile tactics to draw in testosterone-crazed males. Like HyorD said, we don't need to alienate women from gaming even more. You wonder why people state the old axiom "There are no girls in gaming/on the internet"? Yeah, this might just be why...Not to mention, they intend this game to be playable by all, including kids. I doubt this would help them maintain an acceptable rating or standard to be safe for kids.
People, think with your heads, not your ********s.

Again sure they can make males sexy if they can... guess make them buff and option to take the shirt off would do it.
Thing is I am not asking to make them sexy like in porn, sexy in the way you see its a female avatar, not like a skinny teen age boy... like most runway models look 2day. From the distance you cant tell, same as in WOW in some armors they would look like guys if they were not that skinny you could not tell the difference

If you don't think with your head in the mirror universe you don't think at all. Women there are like venus fly traps. Nice to look at, but you should concentrate on the belt, where the weapons are not the chest. By the way, Kirk's uniform was more sexy too.
But if we're all honest, sexy outfits für PC's and bridge crew would be mostly used by male players. I intend to use the standard uniforms.

When did I say it was porn? You can easily tell if someone's a female avatar without them having to be half naked. That's a poor argument. And I hate how in games an identical piece of armor is a full chestplate for men, but is magically a metal bra when women wear it. That's ludicrous and patently sexist.

You misunderstood here I was not talking about clothing but avatar body model ( make them look like women not anorexic teen boys with chest), clothes don't have to be sexy porn (I through that in not based on your statement [porn]) style "metal bra", cloths can be sexy in sensual way like the 60's uniforms that is all... not spandex

Absolutely not. FFS guys you're really getting excited about looking at scantily clad pixelated women? Keep it true to what would be reality where possible. No military or government organisation would have 'sexy' as part of the uniform, practicality is the only real aim.

Aye you wanna stay clear of them.
Now the Klingon version makes sense, as they are a warrior race akin to say the samurai. Their main goal is honour and glory, not practicality per se. Their armor is a show of who they are as well as being protection in battle.

Since we already know the game will be shipping with a heavy duty customisation system, why not just include the option for sexy female body types (if there's some way to do it for males include it to, but I have no idea how). If done in this way it would not be sexist, just a part of the customisation system, and since its optional, no females would be forced to serve as examples of our sexual fantasies. Besides, I'm sure there are some females out there who would want their avatar to be sexy.

Am I the only one that thinks 'No'
Starfleet and Klingon High Command are military type organisations at the core, Do you see our female army members in skimpy Camo clothing?, No you see them buried under the regulation uniforms,
That's not completely accurate. I have known many female soldiers that "altered" their uniforms to give themselves better....definition if you know what I mean. An old pair of BDU's may seem like it would hide anything that would identify a female from her male counterparts but believe me if she wants to show it off, it can done and often is.
Make it an option not a requirement. Older games like EQ had one look for all human females. We are beyond that now. Everything should be customizable.

QFT. I don't get this just like I don't get hentai or anything that has to do with sexually suggestive fake women. Are people really that desperate?
And how does miniskirts or form-fitting clothing make any sense as a uniform? The US military wouldn't let women in for the longest time because they'd be considered a "distraction", and that's wearing normal uniforms! Why would they purposely make clothing that would divert attention? I don't care if it's canon because of TOS, it still doesn't make sense.
Though I guess from the look of this thread, this sentiment is not shared among most future players. I should have known better than to tell a bunch of male gamers to think with anything other than their crotches
I like how people are deciding what other people 'ought' to wear. Star Trek has always been about the outlook of the future and how people should be comfortable with what they wear and with their sexuality. Why just not give the player the "choice" of what to wear instead of trying to shoehorning them into something? Remember its only a distraction if you let it distract you. :)
...and on a side note complimentary uniforms and apparel are not isolated to the original series. ;)

Indeed, there have been some very sexy uniforms in Star Trek (and some very "well-defined" people filling up those uniforms), but the problem in many games is that the standard male clothes are practical and the standard women clothes are sexy (somebody mentioned the example of how when you give your full plate to a female character, it magically grows some massive cleavage). I just think that the standard uniforms should have the same, professional style to them for both (all?) sexes, and that then people can add what modifications they want (although I do hope duty uniform modification will be rather limited, and that more "out there" ones will be leisure war).

Gentlemen, the internet is full of alternatives for your needs. There's little reason to include this in the game.
Actually, I'd really rather Cryptic didn't. Not because it's necessarily sexist or anything (I'd like to think feminism of the actually pragmatic kind has advanced a bit beyond gender dress code disputes), but because every MMO in the mainstream tarts up female outfits, sometimes to the point where there is simply no way for a female character to cover her cleavage, legs, or both. Star Trek Online has many real chances to break away from the formulaic standard and create something very new and interesting, and I think part of this is to stop treating it as an attempt to please fanboys, but instead with all the seriousness and forethought of creating a production in any other medium. And to this end, I think it's important that Cryptic consider uniforms as reasonable and practical, however far customised they are.
Granted, you should be able to make a sexy female avatar if you really want to, but she should be sexy and dressed to regulation. Besides, a woman without an inch of skin shown below the neck can still be irresistably hot.

OK, As a female player there is an advantage in looking like you have little to no armor because for some strange reason you get more help BUT, that being said for ONCE >>>>>ONE!!!>>>>I want to play a game where I get to wear full on clothes and it's about function. I mean you look in WoW and you see the higher ups you cannot see what is under male armor but the females, with the same sort of armor magically are protected even though they are showing quite a bit of flesh. Do I really have to wear a tin foil bikini?

the only reason 7 of 9 was brought into voyager and given her skimpy uniform was cos rateings were going down.

I wondered how long before one of the ladies finally said this.
BTW... I agree. I know that my age group has a somewhat more conservative view on the matter... BUT just the same.
Fellas .. if ya need a cheap thrill (as somone else said) .. there are plenty of sites on the internet for that sort of thing. No need for it in game.
We can have a really cool game that is a lot of fun too without being boarder line porn stuff just to satisfy the male ego !

Don't see it as cheap trill at all, just something cool in the game you laugh about it notice it couple of time but does not become major factor you concentrate on, or get trill on, In AOC and Warhammer worked great dunno if anyone though much about it was a fun detail to game.
I agree you want trills you have sites for that you certainly wont get the same ones from the game like AOC or Warhammer.

I think what the lady was refering to ... is that in some games (ie. : WoW ) the armor .... especially the " high end or premimum gear f" really is so revealing until it is not funny. I could see how some of the ladies would be offended by it. In other words : If you had to properly out fit your toon to be able to compete in the game affeectively you had little or no choice .. BUT to HAVE to dress like that .. yeah ... that could be a problem. I'm just trying to see it from their point of view.
BTW.. what I laughed earlier was the conversation a couple of you were having at the beginning of the thread .. While I would not personally agree with it .. it was kinda funny.
Laying that aside .. I'm just trying to point out that I would not want for the players to be forced into having to dress that way. And I'm guessing that is their concern.
BTW.... from all indication Cryptic is not following the pathway of WoW and other games in most respects ... thank goodness !
I really do believe that over all the game will be the kind of quality, design, customizing capabilities and fun we all expect out of a really good MMO.

While all of us would like a Nichelle Nichols to Fan Dance into our lives or a Jeri Ryan to assimilate us, I think the Unis for the ladies should be just as form fitting as the male unis.

Absolutely not. FFS guys you're really getting excited about looking at scantily clad pixelated women? Keep it true to what would be reality where possible. No military or government organisation would have 'sexy' as part of the uniform, practicality is the only real aim.
If you want breasts just alt tab and do a google search for pictures of real ones.
Quite frankly, if the sexy women are pixilated, then the game engine needs updating.

So long as my lady captain can wear a mini skirt and gogo boots I'll be happy.

I don't see why certain uniforms such as the mini skirt can't be included in the game - the characters could look hot anyway in that or with a full uniform on. It won't be too revealing when on duty, but in addition when your off duty could our characters not wear custom personal clothing (even player made). It adds more social depth to the game in my opinion.

I agree...especially Starfleet. I dont get the obscession with half naked cartoon women.

they can be babes in appropriate and standard uniform. For Starfleet, I can careless what they where in their quarters or off-duty and off ship...but on the bridge, on station...respect the job.

With sexy uniform models, avatar female customization should also allow us to make them sexy :D. So you can make
7of9 or Jadzia Dax or...... Moogie LOL.
according to Jack Emmert , they considered the television series "absolute cannon":D
also according to Jack Emmert, he himself came from a certain "Geek culture":D
both of these statements would seem to imply that the females will have extremely sexy outfits
