I've always wanted to grab half a ship with the tractor beam and warp away, thus ripping the ship in half. I mean come on, would that not be awesome?
What's holding the other half of the ship in place?
I've been thinking that force fields could be used as weapons. A force field is basically a way of using energy to simulate the effects of solid matter (i.e. building a wall); I bet you could make a really good edge with one.
Think about it, a blade that could not only be used as a personal shield (ok, a very small personal shield, but still), but would never dull or break, and could probably be made sharper than any metal or ceramic blade.
If you could project the field far enough, you could make ranged weapons the same way (be like driving a chisel through something).

Your tractor emitter would also be ripped from your ship. A tractor bean is technically a tow rope. There would be forces on your ship aswel.
Good idea though.

A planet killer.
A large drilling type bomb that when shot at a weak point in a planet, will crack it open and cause massize fizzures ... possibly splitting the planet in two.
Well there is one in MY ST universe ...

You guys remember that one episode of Star Trek TNG when the Enterprise was doing some war games and Commander Riker was Captain of the older model ship that the Enterprise was participating against? What RIker wanted to do was to go to Warp and then suddenly stop as quickly as possible right on top of the enemy ship so that they would have little time to react.
Now, say that your enemy was right on the gravitational rim of a Solar body of some sort (a Giant Star, a Backhole, ect). I think it would be supremely hilarious to do that same thing, but right when I exited warp I would throw my tractor beam on the enemy ship, but it would have been modulated in such a way that instead of pulling the ship in or grabbing it and keeping it still, it would just push the ship off. Could you image being in a ship studying a star, and then all of the sudden you ship is just thrown into it by some mysterious force....

Sounds weak but would be a good way to mess with the bad guys. Look at it like this, if you can get the shields down you can start trasport parts of the ship away and throw them into space. That would be a heck of a way to disable a ship.
Or for the more distructive person, you can beam in explosives into the engineering section. and blow the warp core or beam in extra antimatter from the reserves if the battle is really despret. All in all the trasport is only really limited by you how you think.
Another good example would be to just start beaming there crew out and place them into cells.

"Fire phasers!"
"We can't captain."
"Why not?"
"They aren't there"
"What do you mean they aren't there?"
"They are floating just outside your ready room."

I've often wondered if there couldn't be some sort of Trek TNG version of a EMP (or simular affect ) weapon. While it might not shut down the whole ship ... it would CERTAINLY mess up shields for a couple of miunutes ... maybe even mess up weapons too !

Not so weak... actually the Enterprise (NX-01) did this...can't remember the Episode but they did it *gg*

That would rock, but it might pull turn of the anti-matter field and boom...... I would love a weapon like that.

In Starfleet Academy I always used the tractor beam to grab ships that didn't have aft weaponry from behind and hold them in place to fire at them. It was hilarious when they tried to cloak, because I could just go on manual targeting and hit the end of my tractor beam.:D

Not to mention the Voyager episode where they beam over a photon torpedo into the Borg scout.
I'm sure there's many more instances of beaming tech out of a ship offensively, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

This i would use as a last ditch weapon, The warp cells themself are held in place by a magnetic claps and other such devises. So as a last ditch efford to save my ship would be to work the warp field to just encompess the engines. Charge the the engines set a course got the enemy ship and engane set the computer so when the engines are at full charged, right before we go into warp release the claps.
There nothing like a 50 meter cuirse missle flying in a warp 9 charged with high energy plasma to make some go boom.
only problem with this is that you could not warp anywhere until you get refited with a new pair engines. So what's the number to triple A?

I had a thought of releasing a probe which would create some type of anomaly into which enemy vessels would be sucked (provided you escape before anomaly will take place), or a probe which would open a hole allowing species 8472 to come out with high aggression allowing for example to escape from enemy fleet by creating chaos if strongly outnumbered.

thats just it, you're pulling away so fast. Its like grabbing a strip of paper form somones hand real quick, it doesnt have time to slip out their hand so it rips. Their ship wont be able to handle the huge force suddenly being carried out on its structure.
and to combat your ship ripping in half you could have a reinforced tractor beam or put a tractor beam on a warp missile-y thing that you then fire off at like warp 9 into space.

I've thought about this too, mainly when thinking about weapons usable against Borg. Then again we never really got an explanation of how the Breen energy draining weapon worked, so maybe it worked on an EMP type principle.
If/when the Breen species and technology get put into the game I'm grabbing one incase of Borg invasions.

How about an energy weapon, like a phaser that freezes.
Another concept is a weapon that removes oxygen from cells in a body.

That was kinda what I was thinking .. It would not have to be big .. just fast and hard to hit ..
The weapon itself would not be totaly devistating, but it would certainly leave your target seriously vulnerable. The would almost certainly be needing to retreat post haste .. or suffer the consequenses.

that would essential be the same as runnin into the ship right?...it'll severly damage your ship.
Like the above post where the beam acts like a tow rope...your idea would be like putting a orange work cone pointy end into your mouth, running full speed at a stranger and ramming him with it...you'd really do a good job of ramming him...but you'd have no teeth in your head, and thats at the very least of your injuries.
The reason being, all the force you put on him(spread out along the surface of the beam's contact with the ship) will be passed into you also, but at a much smaller surface area the size of the emittor. You'd smash his hull and pierce your own.

There is a STAR TREK version of an EMP weapon, (though not in TNG, it is in DS9). Remember the special weapon the Breen used in the Dominion war against the Klingons and Feds?

Aqua-shock ablative armor piercing HEAT rounds.
Time delayed explosive shell that fragments and seperates ablative armor by partially penetrating its surface before detonating a high explosive, concussive charge that is surrounded by water(or some other dense fluid or gel) in a containment field. The containment field exerts sufficent pressure on the liquid to keep it fluid in flight.

I have to share this story. This comment is just too close.
So, I play in a tabletop rpg group and we've been playing a lot of this d20 style star trek rpg I put together. When the group was still new to the game (couldn't have been more than the fourth or fifth session using the rule set) they were in command of a Jupiter Class/Warp Delta as we were playing in the 2150s leading up to the Romulan War.
Well, they rolled a random encounter while en route to the next planet on their patrol and what did they get? A Romulan Warship. After a few rounds of combat, they're hailed by the Romulan Captain ordering them to surrender as prisoners of war and to prepare to be boarded. Not having any other viable alternatives, my gamers stand down and allow the ship to dock with their vessel.
As the Romulan vessel is in the process of docking, the gamer Captain evacuates the side of the ship the Romulan vessel is docking on. As soon as the two vessels are secure to each other, he gives the order to go to maximum warp.
All I can say is that I was totally speechless for a minute. In all my years of watching Trek I'd never ever seen this in any episode or movie or even read it in a book. So, as any of you who tabletop rpg, the dice rolling came next. Roll for structural integrity, roll for explosive damage, roll for critical systems damage...etc etc etc.
Would you believe the ballsy move worked? The Romulan ship was torn to pieces and the Jupiter Class - well, it didn't fair that well either but at least the bad guys were out for the count.
The gamer's ship lost about 30% of it's structure, warp engine destroyed, life support, communications, gravity plating - just about every system on the ship was severely damaged if not destroyed. The gamers kept up their smarts and jury rigged the power core of the vessel's only shuttle to run life support on the ship and power their short/mid range communications.
Naturally, they were rescued by the intrepid crew of the NX-01 after three weeks of floating dead in space. The story continues, but I had to share this part of it as it so closely resembles your idea.
Anyway, that's my fireside chat for the day. And if you can't wait for STO then play around a table with friends. Check out my fan game:
