well its fairly know what color codes each of the 3 major factions use isnt it?
Feds : Orange (Phasers and Photon torpedoes) and Blue (Quantum Torps)
Klingons: Green (Disruptor cannons/beams) and Red (their torpedo)
Romulans: Green (used for all beams and torpedoes)

so then why is there a small bunch of Klingon-Red torpedoes heading towards the Romulans and 2 just about to hit whatever Fed ship is long the bottom of the picture

unless....its a massive Free for All fight between the Feds, Klingons and Romulans (with the Klingons further below presuming there is more to the picture)

Although by 2409 they've probably come up with a way to mass-produce quantum torpedoes, we don't know when this is (I think it's Perpetual art, in which case it probably isn't too closely related to the Path to 2409, at all) and it's doubtful if a Nova-class starship, being a Science vessel, would have quantum torpedoes; it could very well have photon torpedoes, instead.

Klingons might be below frame too involved in the fight. You never know. Its interesting art though which is really what counts.

i didnt say the Nova did have Quantum Torpedoes (since the Nova only has the normal photon torps) :p i just mentioned them for the ships that do have them

Apart from the off-screen one, which could very well be another Starfleet vessel that's not equipped with quantum torpedoes, that is... ...and are we sure those are torpedoes? Looks kind of like the distant stars you've seen in some art.

erm.....Quantum Torpedoes are BLUE not RED (for example those big three balls along the bottom). i did say that in my original post so...if anything the nova could be firing photon torpedoes with the lighting making them darker than normal so they seem like Red

(the Nova in this picture is clearly in front of the planet between the Defiant and Akira)

and yes it is very possible there are no klingon ships in the whole picture but still....red torpedoes are majorly Klingon in origin wheras Federation torpedoes are Orange or Blue

Clearly the Klingons are cloaked ;)

ooo they could of got the research and made more ships that can fire torpedoes while cloaked like in STVI :D

Pew pew LAZORS!

Sorry ...

Actually it is a good question, though who says they some technology couldn't have been shared before the breakdown of alliances?

I'm wondering what red torpedoes you're referring to? I can see some red lights to the right that look more like a distant star cluster that a volley of torpedoes, and then are the ones to the right of the explosion at the bottom, which I think are distant stars, too, or they could be photon torpedoes being fired by an off-screen Starfleet vessel that's not equipped with quantum torpedoes (although it would be a very odd firing trajectory).

yeah those are the exact red ones i am reffering to because it isnt rare that whenever torpedoes are fired they are fired singly and instead are fire in groups of atleast 3 or more (and the two along the bottom could have the 3rd/4th one in the part we cannot see) and since it is a battle scene there is alot more chance they are torpedoes than "distant star clusters" which many of those white dots are instead.

and it wouldent really be an odd trajectory because if you look closely you can see above that group of 3 there is a Warbird which they could be heading to or they could of been fired by the nova on a straight line towards that Warbird below the one being blown up

The artist probably didn't care that much.

Don't they usually use spreads (forcing the enemy ship to change course drastically in order to assure that none of the torpedoes hit) or fire them one by one and try to guide them into the enemy ships at those distances, and then use clusters like that closer up?
Also, it looks like the red ones near the bottom are making the backdrop redder, as one often sees stars do in art with very colorful stars.

I doubt we'll ever agree on this, as we both have a mental image of what's going on that affects what we see... ...but it's always fun to over-analyze stuff ;)The artist probably didn't care that much.LIES!

nah whenever i have seen a battle it was also groups of torpedoes instead of firing one and trying to guide them (they do have homing-in technology after all)

could be just a bloom from the torpedoes so although it appears red around it, it isnt actually red behind it...plus that red part behind them could be from that giant red nebula-looking-thing

and i doubt we will haha :D but you never know what might instantly be seen or agreed on :p

The artist probably didn't care that much.

i concur with HyorD, LIES! *goes to call up a klingon assassain*
