View Full Version : Speculation on a NOOBTube statement

One thing that was just pointed out to me talking to one of my fleet members was in the NOOBTube interview with Craig, the interviewer stated that STO was coming out around the time the new Star Trek movie is coming out. No idea why Craig didn't clarify or correct that, as I seriously doubt the game is coming out for the theatrical release, though beta may start around then. However, that does bring up the question in my mind if Cryptic and Paramount are working some deal for a special edition box to sell that movie and STO together in the same package. Something I mentioned sometime last year, and I definitely think it would help generate hype for the game.

most likely event would be some sort of Beta promotion going on aswell as Open or Closed beta starting that time which then whoever has won a slot will get invited to play and thus sor tof "released" to the public (in this case public meaning those who have a closed beta slot unless it is open beta)

He probably didn't hear it and don't even want to go into talking about it.
But I did. find it odd to that he didn't say anything when that happen.

Didn't the guy from noobtube just slip that comment in there and then quickly follow it up with a question? It would have been a little weird if Craig went "Hold on there slugger, we've not announced the release date yet. He just answered the immediate question and then moved on to the next.

No, not really as people have back tracked to people trying to fire off things like that before.

Seeing he just talked about the movie in answering I got the feeling he was avoiding the STO reference. I was more struck by the starter ship (3'30)...

He could have been referring to the movie's DVD release.

Just a moment... which Interview? What? Did I miss something?

Edit: Ah okay... found it ^^

I would say... I don't know... there are many possibilities... but seems he just skipped the Question to not mess around with this Guy

I don't see anything there to read into.

The interviewer makes a secondary offhand comment about them coming out around the same time, but Zinc doesn't even look like he notices that, and is answering the question that was asked, which is "are you guys excited about the new movie coming out?"

More than likely they meant that a release (at its earliest) would be around the time JJs film hits DVD in the fall. Most likely it'll be a beta key release or 30 day trial (if its done)w/DL or on disc, as it would be a excellent tie-in for the holiday season.

Seeing Atari is on board now, im taking a guess it'll be the latter (30 day key)than the previous.

I have said it before and will again. We will more then likely see a beta announcement at the movie showing and the release date set 4 or so months after putting it around the Sept. time frame. Strangely enough ST has more then its far share of releases for various series, movies, and games that was also released in Sept.
