I sincerely hope my subscription fee will/would cover updates...if not, no big deal as long as expansions do not come out too fast. Other MMORPGs (like SWG for example) abandoned expansion packs and rely on the subscription fees they collect. This may or may not work for STO, but I am sure most would not take issue with only ever having to pay their monthly (or whatever subscription plan) for updates/expansios.

Ummm... what?
We'll still have a subscription fee, but they'll be adding new content as part of semi-regular publishes. This has been done in SWG, PlanetSide, PotBS, Tabula Rasa and virtually every game that I've ever played.

Like in Eve they dont have it and they are a big succes if you want to belief it or not
atleast for the features it has
So why not for STO to..
Also i am sure if this game gets the credit and advertisment it needs
the SWG & EVE players certainly will join STO and maybe more MMORPG fans

Thats what i am saying but some of the games do ask a extra payment
for a expansion or update they release even if its a monthly fee you already pay

Well, several free expansions a year is what Cryptic has done in the past, so I hope they will continue to do so (especially if they are going the monthly fee route - it's what I would pay for after all!)
Wait - didn't someone at Cryptic confirm free expansions in an interview? I remember reading it on the boards somewhere.......

I think it wont many games like you mentioned SWG and EVE
are both doing it so i dont see why STO wont.

Just curious....is English a secondary language for you? No offense intended, but I am having a little difficulty understanding you.

Yeah...they're called updates. They are usually never that big and include bug fixes and updates to existing content with some new content added. Ship interiors would be part of the updates.
Expansions are normaly large and include whole new things. And they cost you money.

Depends - all of Cryptic's expansions for CoH were free of charge. Of course - this could change with STO, but free was how they have done things in the past (well, free other than your monthly fee).

Japan or Korea?
That's awesome. Mobile cell phone forum browsing. Now there is a dedicated fan.
As far as technology goes, ALL OUR BASE does belong to you, sadly.
Sometimes I feel like sliced bread is still a cool thing when I compare it to Japanese or Korean technology.

Now wha type of "expansions" are we talking about? Are we talking small content added or are we talking about something like the latest expansion for WoW?

For CoH? Usually big stuff like:
* PVP (yes an entire PVP system)
* a raised level cap from 40 to 50 (and includes new zones, enemies, missions, task forces/raids),
* supergroup bases (groups can build and customize personal bases that include things like teleporters to differnt zones, storage for consumables and salvage, crafting areas and more).
* New zones to explore which include new content (missions, enemies, badges, etc).
* New power sets for your hero or villain to access
* New character arctypes - like the alien Kheldians heroside (Peacebringers and Warshades) and Arcahnos Soldiers villainside (Wolf SPiders and Blood Widows).
Plus other small stuff.
And even though Cryptic is no longer producing CoH, NCSoft is continuing the tradition by releasing free content, including an entire Invention/Crafting system and a "Mission Architect" - allowing players to design (and share) their own missions or story arcs.
Edit: Here you go (http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/game_updates/game_updates_-_issue_list.html) - a list of all their expansions/Issues (as in Comic Issues).

So basically along with balance, bug fixes etc. There will also be free content updates like Turbine does with LOTRO?

Sorry but not true. EvE has free "Expansions". They add usually whole new ship classes, new game mechanics, weapons/tech, and even new systems. I might not play the game anymore but it was a well put together game for just 8$.

Well , it's not really "free", because you're paying a monthly fee.
Games like WoW just rip you off by making the next expansion cost more money. :P

Well the devs who currently work on City of Heroes/Villains mentioned that the monthly fee covers the running of the servers, bills and other things like that but not actual substantial updates to the game content like their "Issues", as to the type of content you get in these you can find that info here: Game Updates (http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/game_updates/game_updates_-_issue_list.html)

Then I guess my defanition of "expansion" is different from what the the normal defantion is...my bad.

I think people are confusing the term of "expansion" and "content updates" what would be considered the live version of STO, whenever that is.
