Ok, I am sorry for the harsh words; so far I have followed STO as silent reader only, but what I recently hear makes me speak up about a few things.
First and foremost: I dont like the idea of STO becoming another EVE. Nothing against EVE, its just not my cup of tea. The thing is, Star Trek was first and foremost about social things, dynamics between people, starship crews or station crews. It was never mainly about space wars or spacefighting, that was always just an afterthought! So when I hear there will be no ship and station interiors, it means that practically the player will be identified with the ship. I always had imagined a Trek MMO would be me as ONE member of a crew on one starship with my friends being part of the crew, not me soloing AS the ship. The very idea goes against EVERYTHING Star Trek ever stood for! I mean, fine, if you want to make another space fight MMO, do it, but dont misuse the Star Trek IP for that!
The same goes for the heavy instancing. Generally, I always hated instancing, it beats the sense of a MMO per se, and it yells out loud that anything but space combat has any real value. Kinda like the land missions of PotBS.
Folks, when I imagine a ST MMO, I imagine VAST ship and station interiors which I share with my friends, I imagine big planets where I meet people, not "I am constantly stuck in some solo instance" when I am not in some space combat.
I know you may do with STO as you please, and I am just one guy, but being a Trekkie for about 25 years now I tell you, you entirely and totally got the wrong turn for a Star Trek MMO. Just my 2 cents, bubs.

Oh god - not another PC Crews thread. Dude - go play Second Life or something. I'm sure the mods will be along eventually to delete this in any case...

If you are so unhappy with the game's direction, perhaps you should consider a different mmo to register with and post on their boards. Perhaps SWTOR?
Ok....So your not going to play the game then. Or buy it, right? Or this has totally destroyed your whole concept of STO? Even though this will be the most involved Trek game ever. Besides, Cryptic did say that this ship wandering around can be added as an expansion pack. And so on and so on and so on.....

Wait, did I miss something? I thought Starship interiors were to be a big part of the game?! They're certainly a big part of the trailer!

I personally find it good for what he writes
but it is true it belongs in the other thread.
you should not attack someone because he views and opinions of others has this not the way of Star Trek

Hey welcome to the forums. The SEARCH function is a great way of finding a topic that has already been talked to DEATH and adding your input otherwise known as flogging a dead horse. While you expectation is sahred by some on this forum keep your mind open to the ideas the devs are using for the game and judge it aftr you play rather than specualte on the game bing ruined. You are not just a ship you are a captain and a crew thats what that fancy charcter creator is for.

Hopefully you'll read this before reading some of the exaggerated accounts.
Interiors are still a part of the game, as mission instances. So it means you can't take a stroll in your ready room, but you'll still have missions that require you to solve problems in Engineering, you just will not be able to go there for a little break.

i can' blame the OP.
Starship interiors is one thing, but starbases? Come on.. What's the point of customizing your crew if you can't see them?

I dunno, I did not follow the things in the last months, since it was kinda quiet. But the recent news I gathered really disappointed me. I had hoped they would put more value on the social aspect again, but I guess that hope was futile. Its about more than just no interiors, its the entire concept of making practically just a space fighting MMO. I am a long time Trekkie, and as such I had of course hoped for something more fitting. I dont care for ship interiors just to wander inside alone. Thats like those instanced houses in EQ2 which no one ever visited. I wanted to be part of a team in a ship, not all alone. Its focusing this entire game towards another EVE which I feel does not do Star Trek credit.
I will follow it out of curiosity and since I love Star Trek, but everything I hear makes me like it less. Personally, I also am quite sure it will no be a success as such. For mere space war games there will be better and I am quite sure many Trekkies will not be entertained with a simple spacefight sim for long, but thats just my feeling about this. *shrug*
Btw: I can post my say when and where I will, so save me your berating about search or who has said the same before. Its my right to say what I like as it is yours not to share that view. Either you have to say something or not, but spare me your talking down smartassness like where I have to post my stuff!
