Cardies playable at launch??!!??!!

The new vid says "Play the races you love" and then shows a cardassian. So what does this mean? Are they now playable at launch? I'd rather not have to make one on my own, though I know that I could easily do so.

By Customizing a character you could probably be a Cardassian, but either with the Federation or Klingon Empire. The Cardassians as a faction won't be available until later. This is according to what I've read, I wouldn't mind playing a Cardi either but Klingon is my first choice.

Looks like you will indded be able to pick a Cardassian as a race. How or why he is working for Starfleet or the Klingon Empire will likely be up to you to fill in on your character's bio.

I would've dismissed the Cardassian being there if it hadn't been for the fact that he was wearing the military uniform. So I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that Cardassians will be a playable race under the Klingon faction.

My only clues? Well, all the Federation races wear Starfleet uniforms in the character trailer... Andorian, Bajoran, Vulcan, etc. But can you really see a Cardassian, Nausicaan, Orion, etc all wearing Klingon uniforms? I didn't think so. ;) Seems that all these races will be allied under one faction, but get to keep their own race specific uniforms!

Only a guess of course. I'm thinking only additional installments of "The Path to 2409" will let us know for sure!

Cardassians and Klingons have never really gotten along very well. I don't think they will make them part of the klingon faction. Maybe the Klingon Empire might become allies with the Cardassian Union, but thats a long maybe, but as a part of there faction is out of the question.

Yeah, I can't see the Cardassians taking orders from or sharing power with the Klingons. Especially after how they were treated by the Dominion. I don't know how explain their presence in that video. They may have ended DS9 on somewhat good terms with the Federation, but I don't think they would ever join the Federation. The Cardassians are a prideful, arrogant people. I don't think they would settle for anything less than being the leaders of their own faction.

However, for a short period of time (when the Cardassians turned on the Dominion) both Cardassians and Klingons fought on the same front until the Federation and Romulans were able to counter the Breen Anti-Energy weapons. This could have turned into something over 30 years.

Also, both are aggressive races and each understands the importance of having allies in the quadrant. Especially following the Dominion war. Maybe their allies that coordinate together? I doubt they would serve the Klingon Empire unless there was another invasion and it led to great improvements (thus gaining the favor of the citizenship) *shrugs* who knows what Cryptic is thinking.


And someone said we are Arrogant?? Don't mistake arrogance for pride in one's culture, it isn't the Cardassian's fault that the humans don't revere their elders and their history.
