THE SITUATION
As a commander of a small cloaked bird of prey currently scouting along the neutral zone you are surprised and nervous when you suddenly recieve a priority transmission from an important proconsul within the senate.

He informs you that you that for some time now the Romulan Empire has been using a federation long range communications array to spy on Federation worlds and fleet movements along their side of the neutral zone, but due to a technical complication the tampering has caused the array to malfunction alerting the federation to the possibility that the array may have been tampered with.

Obviously it cannot be discovered that the Empire has been spying on the Federation, but at the same time the intelligence gathere over the last few months by the array is vital to the Empire and its possible decisions in the coming days.

The Proconsul also informs you that a federation vessel has been detected moving at high warp toward the array and will arrive within the hour and that as the nearest romulan vessel to the array it is your job to get there and do what needs to be done to prevent the federation from discovering the empires tampering with thier array and taking whatever intelligence the array had gathered so far.

THE OBSTACLE
Sensors show the federation vessel moving at high warp toward the array will arrive there at around the same time as yourself and is a Galaxy class vessel, far outmatching you in size, defence AND firepower.

ADDED COMPLICATION
To make matters worse moments after the transmission from the Proconsul you recieve an encrypted transmission from the Tal'Shiar that informs you the information within that array is of HUGE importance as not only does it contain federation activities and fleet movements along the neutral zone but it also contains surveillance of a terrorist branch of romulans with hidden powerful backing who are supporting the reunification movement and the intelligence contained within the array would allow them to track down these traitors.

What do you do..? do you destroy the array, if not how or do you retrieve the data...

the decisions are yours...

While cloaked, project false sensor readings to the Federation ship indicating that the array is about to explode catastrophically. While they back off to a safe distance, use your time wisely to retrieve the data and either find a way to internally cover your tracks or blow the array to bits.

Return to Romulus, get hailed as a hero for returning with the enemy's plans, become Praetor in 20 years, then die in an unfortunate "accident".

I would change my course,in order to meet the Federation vessel before they arrived at the Array
I would hail them,and inform the Starfleet vessel that "Tal'shiar intelligence has informed me that a Federation spy is tampering with a Romulan Array...one clearly in Rihannsu space...and was broadcasting some form of false message. Then,we discover you...a Federation vessel...moving at high warp to its location. To retrieve your spy,no doubt. I demand an explanation!"
When the Federation ship offered there motives,I would tell them I "had to wait for further instructions before allowing you to continue"
That would give the Array time to evacuate with the information.
When the evacuation is completely, I would ask the Federation ship to go on a "joint-mission" with me to "investigate" the sensor array. By then,it would be too late for the Federation to discover anything incriminating.

1) When arriving at the location, beam a large force (nearly the entire crew) to the array. Orders are to shoot any non-romulan on site.

Obviously the federation is going to ask questions first before firing. So...

2) Address the federation ship accusing them of stealing romulan secrets and tell them to stand back in what is clearly is a romulan issue. Mainly this is a stalling tactic designed to buy time.

3) After finishing the discussion with the federation vessel, beam the crew back and then blow up the array. If they got the info, then all the better, but destroying the evidence is more important.

Cloak and Away.

First I would ask that the Senate send another ship or ships.

Then upon arrival I would de-cloak and beam the computer of the array and its data storage units onto my ship and warp at best possible speed for the Romulan side of the neutral zone. Meanwhile I’d inform the Proconsul of my situation and my expected destination, asking for the ships it sent to meet at specified coordinates to run interference as I bring the data to Romulus.
